compared to EQ...

daoc isnt even a game. i've recently gone back to playing eq, as a m8 of mine had and was raving about it, saying it had changed quite a bit, good items were much cheaper etc. so i thought i'd give it a go. and oh dear lord, EQ really is so much better than daoc ever will be. its SO much bigger, the classes are more varied, the items more interesting, the mobs more challenging, grouping more exciting, soloing far more rewarding. i havnt played daoc atall since i restarted eq, and im hoping i wont again, i'm pretty much just gonna let my daoc account run to an end, then play eq till swg is out, then play that. this isnt really a "im quitting" post, its more of a "this game is shit but im still sticking around the forums to piss everyone off" post.

so, this game sucks.

just popped in to see how things are moving around in DAoC hehe.
yes i myself have not played DAoC for a while and account ran out 1 month ago.
yes i am back in EQ(/shrug) but really not gonna rant about it been this master game but thruth is after a few months it still is a game that holds intrest.
initally DAoC has so much to offer .in albion you really get the feel of it been camelot and the levels go by fast.RvR (despite been a merc) was actually good fun.
but the excitement of repeating thins over and over with relice raids and RvR as well as little to explore in the world after a little while made me leave.
EQ has major flaws!but to be honest when i returned they have tried to fix them a bit(not all mind u).
eg levelling is much easier i basically quit 2 chars in EQ at level 59(60 been highest) because the time needed to gain even a little exp at that level is stupid and dare u die u lose 2 days exp.they have made a smoother ride and have gotten 2 of them to 60 now.
class balance is beginning to happen granted some classes are still totally messed up but now no more sitting around waiting 4 hours for that cleric to show up as other classes there now have taken up healing role. still a lot of challenging mobs and i joined a mid level guild and we still do so many exciting mobs and zone and as we grow there is even much more to look forward to making anticipation for the next thrill more exciting.
DAoC is a very good game and i would rate it second to EQ and think if the makers put a bit more effort it can be the best out there.its in dire need of a huge expansion(hope new expansion pack sorts it),it needs to really balance the classes properly (when i left be a archer or stealther is the only thing worth playing),it needs npc mobs badly with variety,it needs more challenging big mobs,it needs more exciting quest then riding all over the place.
the euro server makes things worse by been months behind patches.
will try it again with new expansion and see maybe try the shadowknight .

Atm i wont buy expansion for sure! But i might hijack Subiz's account to try it out .

DAoC need imo more thrilling, more fun, mythic etc. (like a real roleplaying game). I need quests, unique-quests, items, unique-monsters, etc.

1 month behind with patches, u say? Make it 2 month .. when we were at 1.45, we were 4-5 month behind (?)

just to clarify this holds very rare in everquest now.basically applying to epic mobs mainly.and in EQ epics are done once and meant to be very hard .
as for loot mobs i think this is very untrue now as most of the good loot drops off high end zones where most of the mobs are mostly up or dragons which yes it does take about 2 hours to kill but heck so did albion dragon if i remember .most time is spent yep u guessed it in organisation.
truth is on my return i would say those that made it evercamp for themselves basically like self punishment .i have yet to camp a single thing since my return and yes i have upgraded nearly all my gear and even did my epic for my rogue with little camping.
main drawback is you need to have friends or be part of a guild to progress in EQ but as i am a social player it was more of a joy then chore.
not trying to praise EQ i have bashed folks in EQ that say DAoC is basically a game with like 6 spells.
i know DAoC has variety of a lot of spells and find it funny.same goes with evercamp.

eq does have camping. which is a VERY good thing. it makes items more desirable, the rarer the item, the more interesting it is, and the cooler its bound to be. daoc has NO rare items, everything can be gained in about an hour of waiting. daoc is far to small, far to un-detailed and far far to dull to be compared to eq.

in eq u could run for hooooooours in a straight line and only get about half way across the game. daoc takes what... about 10-15 minutes to get from one end of albion to the other? fucking sucks.

eq is everything daoc isnt.
