I am so fucking happy they had a bit of a joke in there, rather than the previous cheesy stupid videos that they had.

I also hope they don't fuck it up.

Yeah I agree. I think there needs to be a certain amount of PVE in MMOs. Sometimes it's nice to just kick back and PVE. It also adds to your connection with your character if you have to invest time and effort into it.

Will reserve judgement until I know more though. Not overly excited about it being Mark Jacobs tbh, he fucked Warhammer up royally.

Just have to see I guess, what DAOC has nothing i wouldnt really call PvE, if this had similar amounts it'd be just right rather than going overboard and turning it into WoW.

Don't scare of the initial players by adding later PvE content later - add RvR, and Vanity gear shit.

MLs were good, if you added them from the start.

haha - a bit of humor, I like that.

Oh and ... MIDGAAAARD. :)

Interesting though - haven't seen it before.
Although I fear 'old school' is going to be keyword for terrible core MMO feature implementation

Edit:
Uuuhhh - this made me a lot more interested:

Multi-tiered subscription with no free-to-play option but with (maybe) some cosmetic items for housing. I think F2P and buy-to-play have their places, but we are trying to create a very niche-oriented MMORPG that won't benefit from using those models. I'd rather have 30K people paying and playing monthly than hundreds of thousands playing for free and hope to convert 5%

I'd like to see PvE content in the sense that EVERYONE gets something out of a raid, so there's a dragon that takes 50 people, random loot drops which everyone can pick up like the Guild Wars 2 style, then there's also a quest where you can go also chose the items that drop off the dragon from a quest dude.

Like MLs!

As I said previously, I really hope they don't completely remove PvE, just don't add bullshit 8 man instances.

I would like to see some 'PvE' as well because even though I loved RvR I occasionally just wanted to mess about and do other stuff and then it would be annoying to change game basically (increasing the chance of being drawn away to another game).
And with PvE I would like to see raids as well - but also like you - where everybody benefits. Token based systems or 'Master Level' based credit would be nice.

The word that gear is going to be craftable seems interesting if it is also possible for more 'casual' elements to attain a useful level and therefore being able to compete. I'm tired of gear-centric games where you must dedicate your life to benefit.

All in all - I might very well support this kickstart.

I do however also hope that this game will look towards the 'quality of life' features in for example SWTOR and GW2.
I love GW2s inventory system for example with collectibles and begin able to 'send to collectible' from anywhere on the map and that all characters share it plus you can craft from it....

I thought PvE in DAoC was very fun. But I like Mark Jacobs focus for this spiritual success, in the end it was the RvR that kept players playing.

Obviously it won't be similar to DAoC. That IP is owned by EA. There will be no Albion, Midgard, Hibernia. But other names instead. They'll have to walk a thin line I guess.

When the kickstarter comes up, I will pledge.

Jacobs actually still owns the IP for DAOC or so i'm lead to believe from what he said anyway.

"Do you see this as the spiritual successor to Dark Age of Camelot?"

"No, not really. While legally I would be able to make a spiritual successor to Dark Age of Camelot, I would rather focus on making this game great rather than on it as a sequel. I want this one to stand on its own, even if it does draw on some of the same literature and traditions."

Will be paying extremely close attention to this. Not sure how I feel about no PvE, but everything else sounds promising!

He was answering some questions on YouTube and MJ had said it wont be instanced rvr, so im sure it will be like Daoc frontier where there will be large clear spots for the 8 mans to hang around and other parts for zerg warfare. The no PvE content is a bit strange but if what he has planned works fine by me.

I think the no pve thing will be a mistake on their behalf tbh, where DAOC was indeed all about the RvR the PvE did play a key role in shaping DAOC over the years not to mention it was a nice thing to fall back on when you wanted to kickback and relax.

I can't wait. I just hope in time they come to realize they cannot make a game with no PvE in, that alone is enough to lose customers when they A) want a break from PvP or B) are bored of PvP. They don't have to do any flashy PvE encounters, just basic stuff like DAOC had would be more than enough to keep people happy/busy on the side when not RvRing.

I don't get this then. They could atleast call the realms something that resonates with past and future players :p

If this isn't the spiritual successor to DAoC, what is it? RvR game set in a world of arthurian legends where housing and crafting is very important. This sounds familiar :)

Hopefully they have some prototype to show on the kickstarter. Otherwise it'll be a few years until we see it if they only did the pre-production bit.

It is a spiritual successor, maybe not to mark jacobs but for every DAOC player out there this is DAOC2 regardless of what they call it.
