Anyone else annoyed by the stupid amount of attention this virus is getting from the Media. Just because it's payload DDOS a MS site, if it had DDOSed a cancer research site we would have never heard of it!!

I think its getting more attention because small businesses and home owners have been hit partcularly badly with it. Ive fixed five PCs which had it all either belonging to family members or friends.

Ive never known anything as widespread as this, (well certainly within the circles I mingle).

Hehe, my grandmother is scared to switch on her laptop, for fear of catching 'the deadly virus that the super duper computer expert on the bbc morning talk show said will kill her computer and murder all her family!!!11'.

I tried to explain to her, but...

Oh well.

Nice to see that MS are going to ship their products with security defaults activated, rather than off.

To be perfectly honest, retailers should take more responsibility in making sure people are aware of virus protection when they buy their computers.

Hmm strange, when ever I have clean installed XP Pro the firewalls have always been on by default, even on LAN connections

It hasn't, the OS that is showing up is their webcache, which does run on Linux...how do you think they managed to get IIS to run on it?

Ditto.

Both my PCs were hit with it - the main PC within 10 mins of getting it running again after it was out of commission due to a blown PSU for just over 2 months.
