Trawling through eBay for a bargain tonight and I came across in the DVD section. this . I personally think that anything that profits from death like this is pretty sick.

Pretty sick, but I guess there was bound to be a market for this sort of thing.

Whats the problem never seen war memrobilia before? Never seen programs on the holocaust etc? He does have a disclaimer on the site, and while profiting from loss, he is simply beating professional documentery makers to the punch.

The sellers says that it potrays victims of war. Exactley how does it do that. Anyone can do a bit of carefull editing from CNN and pass it of as Military Memorabilia.

Of course I have seen programmes on the war and the holocaust. My point was I thought it was in pretty bad taste to make a few quid out of the death of 1000's of people directley and 10's of thousands indirectly in Afghanistan and Iraq as a result of 9/11

I remember seeing that and although I believe in the paranormal etc I think that's just a case of it resembling a face and it getting hyped up.

Ash, yes I would be a rich man. £1 for each post and I'd be earning £40 a day. :/

but shock horror, I'm looking for a job !

Nothing wrong with it really, its fascinating (in a macabre kind of way) to watch this footage, and having a record of it so you can remind yourself of what happened is nothing unusual.

I guess the sick thing would be for those who have the footage, and think its 'way cool' or something.

You lot trying to tell me that you're actually surprised at such an act in todays world.

Apart from this being a recent event what's the difference between this guy making a compilation of newsreel footage and selling it to someone making a documentary on the second world world. "The Second World War in Colour" being a good example.

Don't try to make this thing out to be a bad thing. It is a constant reminder of what has happened and a lot of people probably don't want to forget.

You lot are making this out be some sort of attrocity. It is fascinating to a degree and a realisation of how fragile we are.

Go visist ground zro in New York. You will see AMerican tourists luaghing and joking as they smile and pose for pictures against the backdrop of devestation. On every corner you'll see the less well off trying to make a living selling WTC memrobillia.

While it may seem a little tasteless, you can't condem it. It's a n important event and poeple will want to have reminders of it.

Hmm... what about World War 2 films? Millions and millions of lives were lost, and people made profits from films.. and still do.

Pearl Harbour and many others make money out of an event that caused tons of life...

Ok yes, I see the point, this is actual footage of what happened, but the WW2 moives and such just replace the people with actors and stuff...

If that film is just shot after shot of the planes ploughing into the buildings from all different angles, then it is a bit sick really. I don't think anyone in their right mind would want to see that again and again for an hour, just for the wow factor of it.

However, I would like to see the 3 hours or so of Sky News, or News 24 from the day again, with maybe another hour or two of selected footage from the following few days. It was such a massive news event. Whilst horribly chilling, the ability to watch it as it unfolded in real time again, would be a most humbling experience.

The face you see is just the brain doing what it does best, that is to see patterns in things. The face is just like seeing animals or faces in clouds stars etc.

If you lost someone in the WTC disaster then you wouldn't exactly be jumping with joy at this being sold, that's why I think it's a bit sick.

Personally I'd be interested in seeing it again.

Nononono, you miss my point.

It would be interesting to see the confusion again, the initial reports when it seemed an accident, and the story as it developed.

With the hindsight that we have now I just think it would be interesting to see how the news portrayed it on the day.

OK, you can't get away without showing the second plane striking the tower, but there wouldn't even be any shots of the first plane as these didn't surface till the next day iirc.

It would just be interesting to see at what point the fact it was terrorism became apparent, and when Osama was first mentioned.

I remember the day quite clearly, and the period when they thought a further 5 planes or so might still be up there, that sticks in my mind as one of the most tense moments in my life. Being able to see that footage, unedited to suit the political needs of today, could be very interesting, and a true account of how the day was covered.

I get the impression from that ad that the video is simply footage of the planes striking the tower with no newsworthy or historical significance at all. I wouldn't be the least bit suprised to hear it's accompanied by a 'kicking soundtrack!'. That, imo, is wrong.

Did anyone see the actual documentary 9/11? I think it was shown last September on TV. It wasn't tasteless but it was extremely powerful and quite distressing.

And it even had a retired Legendary New York firefighter (Larry Burns - I kid you not) come out of retirement to team up with a young rookie for a rescue mission. Honestly.

yeah i remember that one... was very interesting.

remember the chapel of rest guy? he was officially the "first victim" of it... i thought it was very nasty the way his dead body was whacked on quite a few of the front pages of newspapers... :/

I didn't....I just said it was expected, certainly doesn't surprise me. Although whether you consider it a bad thing depends on where you stand on the subject in terms of you relation in the event.
