We're all dead anyway. Glad I didn't have any kids.

Humankind should have stayed in the neolithic.

I really do think the pivotal point was the Bush Gore election imagine an alternate universe where climate change was normalised and the debate was how much we should do about it.

I think the pivotal point was in the 1950s when big oil knew exactly what was going to go on with climate change and instead of doing the right thing immediately adopted the model of the smoking lobby.

We could have fixed this very very cheaply a long time ago. But humans chose money for their lifetimes and to fuck everyone else (including their own great grandkids).

None of us here were born when we knew about it. In the same way that Silent Spring came out in the 1960s and we've still done fuck all about that.

@Raven's right. We don't make it as a species. It's not impossible that we do so much ecosystem damage and/or produce enough runaway problems that any life on the planet gets pooned out of existence before we're done.

Just as an example of how fucking dumb we really are - we banned a pesticide for use in the UK in the 1970's. It was strongly associated with Parkinson's disease.

So far so good, right? But we still make it here. (In Newcastle I think). And we export it - our largest market being Kenya. And last time I went into the Co-Op there were three fresh fruit & veg products on the shelves imported from Kenya...
