hehe, insane :p Apparently there will be a 2Ghz Opteron on the 6th, debutting at around €1850 :) That said, if money isn't a problem, I think I'd plump for the 1.50Ghz Itanium 2 with 6MB of cache *cough* ~€4,250 *collapse*

Kind Regards

Edit ~ Hmmm :( . . .

The Inquirer
... NF3's overall feature set isn't quite as fancy as NF2's was and doesn't include integrated video or onboard SoundStorm technology ...

Unfortunately NF3 still isn't the board to own for gamers/users wanting to jump for AMD 64 this minute — there's still no chipset support for DDR400 ... Those of you waiting impatiently for enthusiast-oriented boards are, unfortunately, going to have to wait a little longer.

they are indeed ducedly harsh in the pricing :/ I'd still prefer that dual pIV I once fantasized together. it's only 3.2K euro. that's about 2.2K pound. half the price of a single itanium2 cpu :)

'Only' :p lol. Well, patience is a virtue. Personally I'd wait until PCI Express compliant boards come along, since the benefits for games and other graphically intensive applications could be significant.

hehe :) What would be good if people like Dell offered some creative purchasing schemes. Say you paid them $/€/£x a month in return for which you got the kit you wanted. After a certain number of months, you could either give them the kit back and pay no more; give them the kit back, upgrade to the latest product, and continue paying; or keep the kit and pay them a one off lump sum. It no doubt sucks as a business strategy, due to the speed at which computers devaluate, but it would be nice for the consumers to be able to, as in your case, buy some cool kit now safe in the knowledge you won't be lumbered with it come latter this year. Oh well :(

hmm. some of the projects at BigCompany tend to rent servers for speed and "cost" reasons. if you're going to rent for more than a month you may as well just buy the damn thing it's that costly :(

Yeah, sadly that's the problem (well, I didn't think such schemes were in place, but you know what I mean) :( I assume the above isn't for your own personal use, is it?

heh no way. I like big servers, but I prefer them in nice safe bunkers and not in my livingroom. However my geekyness cries out in pain when I say that  I mean...they're big! they make noise! lots of it! think of the power costs! egads! the average mainframe consumes about 80$ US worth of current per day, let alone a large SUN with 20 TB worth of storage!

Crikey, $80 USD a day? That's insane. I think you'd better sell your sniffing story to the local tabloids to raise a little cash, hehehe :p

it turns out that that idiot who yelled at me for telling some girl she smelled nice has admitted it was all a "terrible misunderstanding" and that he's very sorry for flying off the handle at me. so no exclusive for that.
now if he had actually resorted to violence then there may have been some money in it :)

Dutch Doctors creat a medical first as they successfully removed a barstool and several broken beer bottles from a tall idiot's rectum. Sadly the patient passed away due to excessive anal tearing but the stool is fine and recovering from the ordeal nicely.

Just out of interest, what brand Radeon 9700 Pro do you have TdC? (I'm assuming it's not ATi's own, despite the description).

Kind Regards

you get the whole shebang with the specs stated here:

2x Kingston 256MB PC3500 DDR SDRAM Cas 2
1x Zalman CNPS6000CU
1x Asus A7N8X (DELUXE)
1x AMD XP 2800+ 512/333 (BARTON)
1x Enermax EG465AX-VE(FCA)
1x Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9700 Pro
1x WD caviar 80Gb/8Mb
1x ubergeneric LG 52x cdrom unit
1x LianLi borg server cube sans wheels

no kbd, no monitor, no mouse, you pay insured shipping to wherever it has to go. I'll even dream up a price if you like :)
if I ship it I'll be taking the cooler off or it will take itself off and we can't have that now can we?

edit: for Jonty :)

I'll still wait until next year for any move to ops since the first few months will see high prices, low volume and average components.
