Still not overly sure I get it :)

Is it to do with the focus? ie, high focus on distant objects?

It's the lens used, you can use either a tilt & shift or a lens baby. In still shots, photoshop is used to blur the top third and bottom third of the frame leaving a portion in the middle in focus. The resulting effect makes it look like you're viewing a model. On these new DSLRs with video functionality, using the right lens gives you the same effect with no post processing required.

Ahh I see, yeah they look pretty good actually, I think the still shots look far better than the moving shot though.

I don't get what i'm supposed to be looking at here....

Enlarge the video to fill your screen. The technique basically narrows the depth of field so that subconsciously your brain believes that it's looking at things on a tiny scale, rather than a real-world scale.
