I have two suggestions for discussion and consideration and perusement:
  • Convert one of the BF servers to a Desert Combat mod server. I hate modern combat games but I've been playing about with this one tonight and it's fun! Maybe (and despite its flagship status) BW1 would be a good choice, being the 16-player version of BW3. Early alpha stages and no new maps as yet so perhaps a bit early for a BW server, but no harm in sewing the thought-seeds of new ideas.
  • Get IMG tags enabled in this forum!
That's it from me. I need to lie down...

I'm not too sure about Desert Combat yet mainly due to a few issues with Server Stability, however, I will raise the issue with Nat and see what he thinks., considering that there are very very very few maintained DC servers out there this could be a good selling point for Battlefield 1942 on BW.

I'll ask for the change to be made to the img tag. I doubt there will be a problem as I'm around enough to make sure it's not abused, don't ask how long it will take though.

Thanks, Scoob, the Liaison On The Street.

I'm expecting the DC server idea to be shot down, and probably rightly so, but hey! YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!

Desert Combat would be a good idea but it's till in alpha isn't it?, may be an idea to wait until a beta version is released but I wont complain if Nats decideds to put it on :)

Summo have you figured out how the hell you fly one of those damn helicopters yet, i've got the whole go up and go down thing sorted but the second i decide to move i tend to hit the deck quite quickly.

From the few time I've tried you have to point it forward (joystick forward) but not so hard that you loop it and hit the deck, but the faster you go the harder it is not to just roll it on one side and crash

Helicopters are now far easier to fly since DC was recently patched.

Hi, I've been lurking around here for a while, but haven't posted yet, so I thought I'd finally introduce myself!

I used to be CL for a RTCW clan called Phoenix Resurrection, but that folded recently, so I've been playing a lot of BF1942. Haven't joined one of the organised BW games yet, but intend do soon.... erm not tonight though, as CSI and boomtown on channel 5 can't be missed! (I know, Channel 5 showing good programs?!!)

Anyway, to get back to the topic - DC is pretty impressive for an early alpha, no major problems and already some funky hardware like Apaches, Bradleys and Hummers!

Also makes a nice change that most vehicles are faster but more easily destroyed, so it's a quicker game than BF1942.

That's my two cents - first of many - see you all around....

It's all in the rudder. i.e. yaw DO NOT ROLL. That and you use pitch to control forward speed. Doing this on mouse with tapping the throttle is a bit tricky as anything but holding it down means dropping out of the air like a stone. joystick without a twist for rudder is awful for this though.

-Ath, probly spent too much time playing chopper flight sims on his Spectrum and Atari ST ;)
