Yes, another paladin spec thread

Ok got the choice between 2 specs:

1. 50 Shield, 48 Chants, 34 Slash, 13 Parry
2. 50 Shield, 46 Chants, 39 Slash, 1 Parry

Which one and why?

Nr.1 spec imo.
why? well last af chant is nice, u get higher parry which is good vs dual wielding targets and third, u dont really need the 39 style from slash.

43Chants (last af buff and end chant)
29Slash
25Parry

A fairly random spec but.... i have last af buff/end .... I hardly get hit so when i do i have good enough af and a 36 heal does me fine considering....

50Sheild, Brutalize + i got mob2 and +13 sheild.. altho still waiting to cap my dex I dont have sc

25Parry, + mop2 and +10 .. Need sc badly

Was soloing purples wever thingys in ac the otehr day, which i couldnt do with,

24Parry

I dont have a buffbot and im only rr3.... tbh i think You start to feel more of a differnce when u break a higher rr....

Differnce between 29Slash and 34 is i dont have befuddler... O NO! /end sarcasm. :lol: and i noticed my damage went down by -4 .... Altho i got more ripostes off with a slightly longer Brutazlie stun, used far less endurance using it which meant i could concentrate more on the mob then switching chants etc

Its the awesome PVE spec... and so far i have limited RVR time for the 50Sheild spec... Altho i did stay alive a comedicly long time agaisnt 2fgs of hibs.... It was the bolts etc that kileld me .. not the 5 or so luris/firbys/celts trying to hit me

But im hoping when i get higher rr with my Sced armour etc, i wont be all that bad

/edit: BTW the first spec is the one to go for unless you go for mine... but dont cos i got it patended thingy bob

If you expect to have buffbot AF (viable if you got your own buffbot and/or your rvr group have two buffbots available then go with 46 chants. If not take chants to 48.

Then, with autotrain - which Flesh/Lillagullan specs dont have, you can get up to 39 slash like you mentioned. I would go for 34 slash and rest parry personally. The extra defence from a few points in parry is well noticable and costs very few points to gain, whereas the extra points in slash are hardly noticable and cost considerably more.

agree, 34 slash style sucks and ~15 extra weaponskill is non important

Yes yes but he is autotraining obviously so he can get 34 slash with 48 chants and 50 shield

With a small shield for lower end costs and faster attack speed, using brutalize and slam as attacks.

It's PvE only really so no no to-hit bonus on shield doesnt matter, and with my old spec with a small shield using slam and brut i out damage my sword anyway so I thought i may as well have more defence.

Much as it pains me, got to agree with Flesh :<

48 chants - last spec group AF (127 delve). Almost twice the cleric spec buff (67). Would go for this spec even if I was running with a buffbot.

50 vs 42 shield - debatable, if you want 50 for brutilise and 4% better guard then by all means. Would drop to 42 and up parry instead though, as the tradeoff in terms of your own personal defense is much better for the points - an extra 4% in shield vs 8.5% in parry. And especially in PvE, as you'll be taking most of the aggro, defense is everything.

29 slash - Amy is all you need. Riposte at 18 spec is a nice-to use style, but with end regen just SpamAmyForTehWin (TM).

Amethyst actually does less dmg than riposte, riposte is also low end,. and even if pala has end chant its very nice to use them low end styles.

I always U perform riposte then ame as backup to hit with riposte if blocking.

the dmg is way better and ofc low end is v v nice.

Riposte is very very close to the same dmg cap as Backslash.

Medium to hit is indeed not bad.

I would recomend que riposte always.

Riposte is a 0.93 Growth Rate Style, lower end use, and + med defense Bonus

Also, befuddler has higher growthrate than ameslash, and you use befu after ripo ;o

RIposte is one of the best styles
Against mobs amathyst misses a lot less then riposte (specially high level mobs)

with my arms i do riposte back-up with ama followed by diamond slash

Beduffler seems to miss a lot and the 4 or so second stun is crap

Best is brutalize followed by 3 ripostes, much like dragong fang in a way that you can spam low end reactionairy styles after a 9 - 10 stun (10 seconds for brutalise)

brutalize followed by 3 more brutalize's imo, with small shield its nps, and its only medium end so easily recoverable with end chant

well my favourite is :

48 chants , last AF chant
42 shield , slam 4thewin
39 slash , back slash
19 or 20 parry with autotrained slash, and a respec/autotrain trick before the lvl48 ding.

imo chants is top important for a pala.
Slam is enough, you will have 50+ shield with bonuses.
slash will be maxed to 50 with bonuses, and back slash is a good choice after slam, in pve or rvr too.

I usually play pala PvE only, and that is my saracen pala planned spec. I will RvR her till MoB 2, Purge, FH, then I want to use her for dragonraids, powerlevelling, etc.

lvl50 shield may be useful in RvR for a blockbot pala, but to effectively use the brutalize in RvR ... not a chance - in my humble opinion.

Only styles a paladin needs are Amethyst Slash and Riposte.
34 slash is bollocks, the extra weap skill you gain by having5 more points in slash increases your damage, but it's percentile based, and since pala damage is wank to start with, the extra parry is better.
Also my spec works for auto-trained paladins and without auto-train, just spec 50 Shield, 48 Chants, 29 Slash, then spec parry accordingly. ;o

No, I don't like that spec.. however, if he wants 50 shield definitely, that is the best spec.
