just read this article at Viarena . Tried it and it really does seem to work. Much quicker shutdowns than previous.

I dont know if the SP1 has made any difference to shutyting down, cos I darent install it.

Hurry up and Shut Down already!

Have you ever wondered why it takes Windows such a long time to shut down to its power off state after you request it to? I have the answer for you!

Browse down the article to this bit. Involves fiddleing in the REGISTRY, but its easy, and works.

Hum... I'd rather let my apps shut down gracefully I think, rather than pulling the power from them.

From what I have seen XP SP1 has made both shutting down and starting up a little quicker, that combined with Microsoft's own BootVis makes startup (and on some occasions) shutdown fun again..

Tryed it... can't say it makes much difference?

Why is a speedy shutdown necessary when you can just walk off and let your comp shut itself down?
