I have heard that xp distribution in a team is based on dmg - if this is true support classes would gain far less xp than dmg classes, while hopefully beeing both of the same utility to the group?

It's based on levels within a team. Out of team it's based on damage.

Not true.

SWG is the only place I ever heard of that does this within a group.
