Howdy, I want to write a little script that will extract some records from the iTunes music library, which is stored in XML format.

Dealing with the filtering and so forth I can cope with, but I've never worked with XML before, so I'm after some tips on where to start with regards to extracting info from an xml file.

Not sure which language I'll go for - ideally Perl I guess since that actually works as a proper script language in Windows, though I could knock something up in Java (or with a lot of learning, C#.. maybe).

Do any of these have good built in processing tools for XML? Are there things that I should/shouldn't do when dealing with XML records?

At work, I use Xerces myself, which is good for OO based languages like C++ or Java.
