XBox + Halo + Widescreen tv

For some reason, halo won't tell my tv to display in widescreen, it just displays a 4:3 image. Sure I could force my tele to do widescreen, but it'd just stretch the image and look all out of preportion. Surely that's not what you're supposed to do?

Amped/Splinter Cell both tell my tele to go to widescreen mode..

Splinter cell does look a bit stretched though.. isn't it supposed to be displaying a proper 16:9 image? I'm sure the ps2 does when you select widescreen..

anyway, anyone got any ideas?

Er, nope, works fine for me? Could be a dodgy scart cable or your telly being funny?

And you're sure it's actually a widescreen image, not a 4:3 but stretched?

I bet it's this peice of shit joytech digital av cable that gameplay sold me. When I get home I'll test the standard one.

Aye, doesn't seem to be. My tv seems to be picking the right ratio for each game then.. some just dont do widescreen. Which is annoying because it's piss easy to implement, only drawback being fps. (or so i've heard)

I know Halo is not Widescreen but you can it force by changing the settings on the Dashboard.

Also whats wrong with the joytech cables, I use them to connect to my Widescreen and 5.1 Dolby digital system, I have found no problems what so ever.
