I have got myself an Xbox 360 Elite on the cheap, its pretty good so far, streams as good as a PS3 and it involved less fucking around to do so.

I have a folder on my NAS full of HD videos that play fine on the PS3 but the Xbox 360 just see's the folder as empty. I assume the files need to be converted (gah fs!) to a format that the Elite recognises. To save me having to type anything into Google what format should the HD files be in for the 360 to see them?

They started as MKV files which I then converted into whatever file it is that the PS3 likes.

Help appreciated unless its off Meg, if so fo Meg

think 360 likes xvids and .wmv hd files

if you converted the mkvs via mkv2vob then you are preety much screwed.

wot issues are you having with streaming to ps3 btw?

I did use mkv2vob chum, the Xbox just see's nothing in my HD folder, see's everything else (divx, photos, music etc) but not whats in my HD folder, as though its empty.

Is there anyway to convert the PS3 HD files into something the Box likes?

its not ps3 hd its just hd like mkv which xbox doesnt support ..

you need divx or mwv as stated above .. to change them you need something like virtualdub and stuff .. but i never tried to play mkv on it

nope, you wont be able to convert to a format 360 can play, there was a thread on doom9 forums about this some time ago.

think simplyiest form of converting normal mkvs to wmvhd is via riverpaste or xillisoft. unless someone comes up with free app similar to mkv2vob

Kenny - don't mention that software to Trem, he'll have a Hernia.
