Xbox 360 Warranties extended to 3 years - Microsoft admit problem

Microsoft have admitted the failure rates are unacceptable and are to extend extend all warranties to 3 years.

It is going to cost them an extra billion dollars to put right but at least they intend to do the right thing at last, 3 year warranty for all. The warranty is global so expect to see the same post on the 360 E.U. site soon.

Oh and Microsoft are going to refund everyone who has paid for an out of warranty repair so far! Good on them.

No its Worldwide - As stated by the Warranty FAQ. It's just going to take a few days to for all their regional sites to update.

edit:// or not, it only says they will re-imburse anyone who paid for repair because of the three red lights. The new warrenty only covers 3 red light failure, so if you paid for an extended warrenty you still have that -it covers against all faults for three years.

Anyone who has ever had to pay for an out of warranty repair on the 3 red lights problem will be getting a full refund in the next 8-12 weeks.

Get a refund from the shop you got it from, and put the money towards the elite console.

why the elite console has the same problems of the normal console .. they didnt make the heat sink changes to the elite yet afaik

might as well get the ebox fixed with new heat sink and then buy a 120 gig hdd unless you specifically want a hdmi connection or a fetish for black
