Okay, i'm having some problems with the above setup that I would like some advice on. I'm not great at explaining this kind of issue, but i'll give it my best shot.

I have my laptop connected to the internet (wireless), via wireless router, it's running windows 7.
Laptop is connected to 360 with an ethernet cable.
I've turned on ICS, and sometimes everything works without a hitch.

There are a few issues I can't solve however.

1.) Everytime i turn my laptop off, then back on, I have to re-add the Windows Media Center Extender, as it won't work otherwise (doesn't connect, 360 says it can't find my laptop), but still can connect to the internet.

2.) Occasionaly, when i turn my laptop off, then back on, my 360 can't connect to the internet. If i go into Network & Sharing Centre on my laptop, it says

Unidentified Network

Access Type: No Internet Access
Connections: Local Internet Access

for my 360.

It won't connect to xbox live, and neither the 360 or laptop can find each other when i'm trying to set up Media Center. Also, when i run 'Test PC Connection' on the 360, it'll say 'Test Failed'.

Anyone have experience with such issues?

edit - I should perhaps also note that I have not fiddled with anything. ICS worked first time, and i've not tinkered with any settings.

hmm i think it might just be gamebooster closing DPS and ICS actually.

edit - although i don't think that it will solve the first issue

edit2 - and jamcast probably has something to do with it. so many applications, so much confusion.

Don't bother with ICS - just bridge the connections. That way, when your laptop is on the wireless your x360 hooked to your laptop thinks it's hooked directly to your router.

Go to network connections, highlight both your ethernet and wireless, right click, bridge connections. I don't know if this'll solve your problem but I know that it's a far more straight forward way of connecting things than using ICS.

Have you got any registry protection software running that will undo any changes you make? That would give you the symptoms described in having to re-add everything repeatedly. Some-antispyware and of anti-virus software do this.

Trying this now, thanks for the advice.

Nate's advice should sort this. It does beg the question though mate, if your lappy is wireless, is it not worth the investment in the 360 wireless adapter (overpriced though it is)
