Ok so I'm trying to connect my newly aquired 360 up to live using my desktop as a well... bridge... my pc has one of those nforce 2 mobos with 2 network cards and seeing as i dont have a cable long enough to reach my router and dont have any ports free on it in any case i thought id use the supplied cable to attach my 360 to my pc and share teh internets.

The solutions on the pc that ive come up with is to use a network bridge to bridge the two connections, that worked for the 360... but didnt allow the pc to access the net (bejebus knows why!), and using ics just plain didnt work... so...

help? please?

or should i just bite the bullet and go buy a switch.

Bah no-one seemed to want to help me.
But in the end google solved all.

The trick was ( for future reference of other xboxers ) once enabling the network bridge to go into command line and type

netsh bridge show adapter

then once the adapter connected to t'internet is identified type

netsh bridge set adapter # e

where e = the number of the nic connected to teh web.

Don't know why this works, only that it does. If anyone wishes to tell me why then go ahead but otherwise meh.

:edit: wmc seems to work as well so huzzah

Umm, if it's windows XP it's even easier than that. All you do is right click your currently connection that connects to the router, select properties Go to the Advanced tab and click "Allow other computers to share this connection"

This sets up an internal route from the subnet of 192.168.0.x to your lan connected connection. Anything then connected to the second connected, be it through a single crossover cable or a hub/switch, will pick up a ip in this range.

Simple really. Using the bridge mode has just meant that you've managed to keep all your devices on the same subnet, where all you actually had to do was tick one box to turn you PC into a router itself.
