right with the latest release of xbmc i decided that i wanted xbmc instead of evox as me dashboard which i have managed to do no probs. but i have ran into some problems.

1) quick time trailers no longer or any other scripts like game trailers and ifilm dont work. but on line weather works fine.

2) ftp. how do i find what my login name and pass word should be?

2) *Should* be xbox/xbox. Make sure you've enabled the ftp server in the settings.

As for the first - not sure actually, most scripts don't work on my mates xbox but work fine on mine. Exactly the same version of xbmc on each one. If you find out what the problem is - let me know :)

Well XBMC weather isn't scripted so that doesn't really indicate anything about the scripting. :p

As for the problems - it could well be your DNS is broken. XBMC has hard-coded lookup for weather and imdb, but not for things like quicktime and ifilm. If it's having DNS issues that would explain why some things work and others don't. Check your network settings and make sure the DNS is correct.

You have to click shift first I think.

There's an icon on the keyboard that lets you access characters - can't remember what it is - but it's there. If it comes to it, since you can access the ftp you can always just do it manually via the xml config file.

for the trailers/muzic vids and linkboc browsing prob you need to add DNS number to it nath. the @ tab on the virtual kb switches to the full stop etc.

When you run XBMC from Evox, XBMC uses all the IP/DNS etc settings that are already setup in Evox. So switching to using XBMC as your dash will mean you will have to setup all those settings explicitly in XBMC as it can't get them from Evox.

Not true. I've not used evox in over a year XBMC has been my dash for that long - I've updated my xbmc several times over and they all use the settings from evox without it needing to be loaded.

XBMC only uses evox network settings if evox is loaded first, otherwise it uses the settings from its own config file.
