Crap Xbl

Long story short some cunt has hacked my XBL account and used it to buy £180 of MSPoints off my CCard.

Called the XBL helpline and got them to suspend the account and they will 'send it to their investigation department' apparently they will refund any cash used to fraudulently purchase points. Ive also changed my 'live' password and ordered a new CCard (a bit extreme perhaps but I rarely use it anyway so thought I may as well cancel it)

Utterly no idea how this has happened, but just wondering if anyone can think of any other things this might affect that I haven't already cancelled/suspended??

Contact your cc company, let them deal with ms. When it comes to fraud they'll be on your side and sting ms.

First of all change your XBL password to something complex, but easy for you personally to remember. XKCD has a good strip about how to do it here...

Next, get one of those top-up credit/debit cards. You can compare a variety of them on this site...

Top-up with a set level, link it to your XBL account and then you don't need to worry if you get hacked again. The most they can take is how much you've put on the card.

Same thing happened to me about 3/4 weeks ago. Going thru my emails and had mails from Paypal saying thanks for the purchase of 9000 MS points(£90). Did the same thing, straight on the phone to MS and they suspended account pending investigation.


Then got an email afew days ago saying investigations are still on going, and they have gave me a 30days code for when the account goes live again.

My son had his account hacked somehow. Luckily he does not have a card attached but uses MS points. MS the fuckers would not reinstate all his achievements tho.
