X Agp

Just a quick question.

My motherboard supports up to 4 X AGP. I was wondering if graphics cards go up to 8 X AGP does that mean I can use it. As some places I've seen say for example GF4 Ti4800 supports 2X, 4X and 8X AGP but in other places it says nothing.

Any thoughts?
