Wtf is this crap about a malmo list???

Whats this "malmo list" i hear so much about?? i do believe that malmo is big enough without a list.. and "rules" what rules is there then the most obvious like no leeching etc???

just get a grp together ffs and go kill.. screw the listholders as all ive heard about them they screw u over if ur 30 sec to late and pick their friend that 4 places down or something...

ive never been to malmo (im to low lvl) and most likly wont either as the attitude there seems more or less "2 years old"


and most ppl that plays this game seems to think its real life...

and if malmo is so damn bad and u hate it so much then why are u going there?? theres many more places u can go to hunt, like raumarik.. its always empty as far as i know..


and from reading all the posts in this forum there isnt much else i can say then grow up please.. i like to think that theres more or less intelligent ppl on the other side of my screen, but u know what?? every single day in this forum u prove me wrong...

i maby see 2 or 3 intelligent posts in this forum a day.. the rest seems to be written by a 2 years old with a overgrown ego..

and im not only talking about midgard only forum... im talking about ALL the /realm related daoc forums...

lists:

A group starts up (2x8 members)

They pull at lair (the front)

Another group starts up (2x8 members)

They pull at Yar

When it's efficient, there will not be room for another group of 2x8 pulling

So they have to go outside of lair area to pull

Now, getting in is hard.... getting out, alive, is even harder

So they cant go outside lair area

that leaves 1 place near the lair (the side) where they can pull
but there's not enough mobs to keep a good group occupied.
SO, people would rather go on a list and wait a a few hours for VERY good xp, rather than be in a group thats slow and not terrible good xp

You hit 1 mob in a group of 8, and you'll have 4 drakulvs on you, at least. So, you require either a healer who can mez, or a shammy who can root

These 2 classes are much sought after at lair (front) and Yar, and there's generally not enough to go around, hence there's usually only 2 groups of people xping at lair

If you want to start a malmohus group that isnt xping at Yar or lair, it's better to start it outside of malmohus, like gna

Simple... there's always people at malmohus
So you can always get a group.
The most important factor to remember is the mob respawn rate.... it's incredibly fast, and since you xp in a group of 16, mobs go down fast.... and there's usually always more.....

Raumarik is not a friendly place, and mob respawn is not that great

Been in a few 8 man groups doing fenrir's and other things, but you need to get there, and you're all alone out there... in malmohus, at least at Yar and lair, there's always someone to rez or group with

H-Stones is the only other 'safe' place with decent exp. But not as good as Lair or Yar. And when you go to H-Stones, you might not be able to come back to lair/yar. So few ppl take the risk.

Best you can do is to log in early just before the groups start.
Either you get a group straight away or a high position on the list.
Then it depends on the list keeper. Some are good, other are ...

Silverhood and Hellskor are right. Malmo didn't end up like that because someone decided that's how it should be done. There are reasons for it, and they just recited those reasons. Also, as Klav in her own way said, the xp in Malmo is much faster than other places. But on the other hand it is much duller to be there. Imagine standing in the same spot, pulling the same mobs over and over again for roughly 10 levels. And that's not like levels 1-10. Just the last level, 49-50, feels like levels 40-43 or something in time consumed to get it. That is why people start hating it, and it is also a large reason why many are in a bad mood down there. The place itself gets to you. Then add bitching about drops and general bickering to that and you might get the picture.

I must point out though, that the people that are in the groups makes all the difference to the mood for the moment you are there. I've had some good times in Malmo actually, but the bad times far outnumber them unfortunately.

Well, just my view on the matter. Just remember though, noone actually set those rules about lists in the first place. To my knowledge they just evolved naturally so to speak.

klavrynd, i am soloing.. and i sertelny didnt call everyone a 2 years old.. i said that many posts had the look of it but didnt say everyone was.

but anyway.. sorry for posting.. been reading to many of the bad posts (kinda almost all the posts here) and kinda took it out on malm.. been discussing this post with a ingame mate and he explained how it worked..

mabye so but if they formed a group that waited to get on the fast exp grp they get atleast SOME exp right?? even if its slow..

that way they wont waist all those hours of waiting...

But the two malmo groups are there until about 12:00/2:00am. Once you get in the group you can exp for as long as you like. Other groups usually break up after a few hours. Everybody hates it but you just have to put your head down and get it over with. It’s the fastest way to lvl from 40-50.

I disagree... from watching my xp bar go up and down like a yo yo over the last few levels I can honestly say that xp in DF with a decent bunch of players killing Nightmares/Shredders/Mahrs/Succubi and so on even doing Prince/Princess runs is by far the best xp I have ever experienced. Its also a lot more fun in my opinion than Malmohus could ever dream of being. You also get the added bonus of some RvR and some nice RPs if you meet some Hibbies or some RvR and crap RPs if you meet some Albs Can anyone explain to me why so many Albs are worth so few RPs by the way. Me and another EoO killed a yellow con Alb Saracen who was at full health the other day near Renaris.... I got 2 RP's 2!!!!!!!!!! i mean FFS! 2 Realm points... woohooo Im off to my trainer now to get Mastery of NOTHING!!!!!

Anyway DF is gooooood And fun too. Raumarik is gooood and fun too Killing them silly tree things that nuke for like a million points, thats fun Drops too in Raumarik are seriously nice as well, good caster stuff (Snow Crystal), and great staves. Nice armour for the Tankies from Fenrirs, who give just as much xp as Drakulvs in Malmo but spawn slightly slower. And then you have thos big cyclops freaks who are well... just freaks really and they hit you into the ground so fast you think whaaaaaaaaaaaaa???? But they drop nice too, especially Hugi, the biggest Freak in the Freak show, now hes just plain mean!

Malmo... well its HELL!!! HELL I tell you! HELL!!! But we all gotsta do it and experience it. In fact Noita is parked at Yar right now, mainly due to the fact that she was helping some guildies out yesterday and had to log quick cos her poor brain was fried by it all! Luckily shes like a kill or 2 from 49. Anyway, my advice... AVOID Malmo if you can, if not BEWARE, it will turn you into a maniac. Lists, whining,xp,drops,grps,levels in grps, casters being told NOT to nuke in G2 cos they are making G1 xp poor (oh yes it does happen), tanks peeling mezzed/rooted mobs then NOT peeling attacked casters/healers.

And you will start off believing you can rise above it all, you will genuinely believe this, but in the end you too will succumb to it and whine and winge along with the rest of them. Oh yes YOU too will do it.

You really can't compare solo-xp before 40 with solo-xp after 40, its a big difference. So far I've leveled 46,5->48 in malmo, the rest I've done solo so I know what I'm talking about . Not planning to get to Malmo either, hate that place so I'll stay 48 forever or wait for the exp to come in an other way

In Theory Dungeon xp is the best and fastest xp possible.

BaF code combined with 20% more camp bonus in dungeons means DF IS better than Malmo.

I think the problem is because DF is a RvR dungeon and acess to it is not always guaranteed, DF groups are not as prominant.

Although I would not mind one bit of the Malmo effect came to DF, could find a reg camp spot with very good spawn and set up camp, get a list going, advertise it.

I am cynical because of the above mentioned disadvantages of DF, but hey you never know till you try eh?

Solid: Well... a good grp of 8 can easily camp the Princess and the surrounding few rooms easy enough. The spawns on the mobs.. Big Spiders/Nightmares and so on are easily enough to keep you busy while waiting for Her Royal Ewulness to respawn.

True...the only down side (if you think its a downside, I dont ) is that you never know when some slime bag will try and xp kill you while your doing it. But... this just adds spice to the stew imo

Anyway, Im always up for a Princess run so give us a shout in game if you want to go camping

Running a list tho Well unless those ppl on the list come down and wait til its their turn, log/play alts etc... getting to the Princess solo is probably impossible. And if youre going to do 2 grps then just camp Umber Hulks and named guys, like the Earls and Minor Royalty and so on, they spawn well and the xp is insanely fast.

What makes Malmo xp uber is that its fast and steady... you can stand the same place and pull for hours from belts of 30+ red/purple mobs, that come 4 at a time, and have fairly much xp

soloed a lott, played over 32 day when lastily dinged 50.
last week i make my mind, want to ding 50, from late 47.
take friday free from work and early morning, 11am cet log to yar, groups was allready xp:ng there, after copple hour list, playing alt meanwhile, i get in, --> 6 hours mad xp:ng, same mob hour after hour, dinged 48, log off copple hours and back, 7 hours xp:ng, log off somewhere 3am cet, was close 49.
saturday.
log on little over 11am cet, immediatly to group! 7 hour xp, dinged 49 and copple bubble over, copple hours rest, and back! 8 hours xp and when was going sleep 4am, 4 bbl to 50.
sunday.
log again 11am cet, groups was allready xp, after 30 minute get in.
6 hours for 4bbl and dinged 50!

well, what i notice there, you can calculate when group 2 hour/bbl.
good lair group make this bbl/hour speed.
soloing spindel? close 4 hour and bbl.

It's not just albs. I was on the verge of throwing my computer out the window the other day (as most sotl members who saw my tantrum in guild chat will confirm) having killed 10 (yes 10) yellow cons solo and not -one- of them giving me any RP.

Something to do with anti-farming rules gone bugged apparently. I don't know the reason for it, but it's bloody stupid.
