If any of the savvy crafters out there would realise there is a shortage of mp small bucklers out there they could make a killing.... I know of at least 4 ppl looking for 1 including myself.

Just make a couple of batches stick them on your cm for 4p each and watch the money roll in .... im guessing they cost < 1p to make?

Hmmm know a crafter in KOTRT that makes 2-3 each day and sell em for 700 gold on his CM... just check it reguarly, but i'll try tell him to make more... :D

might be mistaking by the price, but think that was what he sold the last one for...

The chance of an MP on a Shield is the same as any other MP, you could get it on your 1st try, but it could also take over 300 tries. So the make cost is Tries x Make Cost...under 1 Plat is an unrealistic figure TBH...

correction...

on average they cost less than a plat to make...

ofc one could cost 200p but thats a crafters life... i make mp chain and sell it on the market... if a helm costs me 15p to make which once it has done i dont sell it for 15p cause noone would buy it. You sell for market price take a loss and make more... if you make 10 or so "batches" chances are you'll hit average cost over the time

Anyways i bought 2 off the market yday for 3p each hurrah

Not quite. It's actually:

Tries x (Make Cost - Sellback Cost)

Since, obviously, you'll sell back each item that you don't want to place on your CM and, therefore, recover a portion of the make costs.

:)

I believe the actual cost of a retry works out about 10gold on a small buckler; at least on the old style ones.

ie 50 tries costs about 500g.

Therefore, charging 501gold per MP shield would, on average, net profit. 2plat sounds reasonable (although it's dead boring).

hehe, close but not quite.
The actual price is retries*(Cost-sellback) + Cost
Since you obviously don't sell the MP piece to the merchant you have to pay the full cost for the successfull try.
Average chance to make MP is 1 in 50, wich amounts to 49 retries
So, assuming Cost is 30G and sell back is 20G (just random numbers, I dont recall the exact values) the average price to make a MP is :
49 * (30-20) + 30 = 520

yes and it's pricelevels like that that made people stop crafting for the general market and only work on the very rare occasion when a guildy/mate whines their heads off.

I realised this mistake after the 10 minute able-to-edit-your-post timer was up. :( Hoped I would get away with it! (The difference in our equations amounts to approx. 5% of the total cost) ;)

Should have known another old-skool crafter would catch the error.

?? if I get lucky making MP cloth leather studded chain or plate I sell it for cheaper then those 20P some people sell for... if it eg cost me 1P to make MP then I don't think it's fair to sell it for 20P as I know if I needed some armour and wasen't the alb with 50000000000000plats on the pocket well then I would have liked a chance to buy some new armour as well... I actually made a AC'er cause of those INSANE prices cost me less to make a LGM AC'er + craft a full set chain for my mincer then to buy it on the ME making my own set + lgm cost me aprox 50Plat total!
Buying full set from ME would have cost me 98Plat with the prices when I made my ac'er I do not own this mutch money.. I barely survive on the profit I make when I got time to make linnings and mp's to sell om my CM, and the rare ocation I actually get some drops worth anything.

Regardless of the actual make cost, it's naive to expect someone to skill up to LGM and then sit and craft and sell any resultant MP for retries*(Cost-sellback) + Cost.

I rarely take MP orders, precisely because they are an utter pain. I recently spent 2 whole days crafting an order for cost (retries*(Cost-sellback) + Cost). Now, how much could I have made farming scrolls and/or items in 2 whole days (selling resultant drops on my CM)?

If I get an MP accidentally (when crafting 99% for Guildies), I put it on my CM for 5 - 10 Plat. if someone wants to pay that then they can, if they don't they won't, but I refuse to accept my MP is worth any less for some ring or whatever that has cost a person nothing more then time to farm :touch:

This is probably one of the few times i'm going to fully agree with you on item pricing :fluffle:

People who don't have crafters always seem to forget the small fact that although the MP items only cost 1 or 2p to make the time spent crafting them is very real.
Crafting is very very time consuming (and also rather boring). If you want me to spend 3 days playtime skilling to LGM, then the extra 5 hours making your MP item. You can damn well pay me for it!

I used to go farm chan + his 2 mates. Average time to kill him 5 mins. Average price you could sell the drops for each kill 2/3 plat.
So adding this up that's (lets be conservative here) 24p an hour?
If your MP takes me 5 hours to make you should really be paying me 125p for it!

Now lets discuss if you think crafting an MP for you for 1p profit, then being called a rip off merchant is really something i'm going to do! This is why for the most part I only craft for people that I know and like.
If you don't want to pay the prices people are asking. The merchant in goth is probably quite happy to talk to you.
