So the days are soon closing in here on the EU regions, the release of World of warcraft will be sick and fast like in the rest of the world, so my question here goes to the friends and foes from midgard,albion and hibernia....

WHO, WHAT, AND WTF Are you going to play when the servers are all full with new players..?

like me, will be playing ///Night-Elph warrior or UD Priest...

And if some1 know the server names already then givf info on who would be playing there, cus if would be fun to play with you lots...

I'm not really surprised, tbh, but then I never expected Blizzard to be any different from EA, SOE, Mythic and all. That would have been surprising. Deadline = when the money start flowing in, so deadlines > all. WoW community is such that they will still tolerate abuses that for us would be enough to cancel, deinstall and burn those cds in a ritual pyre - call it past credit, which is something Mythic never had the luxury of.

they couldent afford to wait.. another half a year / a year would have made blizzard loose to many players to other games

well maybe not totally bankrupt. but they WOULD have lost one hell of alot of players to other games thats soon to be released..

and i do not believe that they didnt expect this much players with looking at the huge success the warcraft serie is/was. not to mention diablo / D2 (although i cant for my life understand whats so fun with diablo) klick.... dead monster, click again ooooh another dead monster..... Dont crow about how great a game is until you have played it properly for some time then decide o hang on i really did enjoy daoc more but i cant go back because i made a complete arse of myself on the forums.

Played Star wars galaxies and had everything done within a month wow will be exactly the same.

Considering all the whining that has been posted on FH/BW since Daoc was released I would say that applies to us too. Fanboyism isnt different here, it is just a different group of players. Doac had a lot of weaknesses on release but has evolved a lot since release, some of it good some of it bad, just like most of the other MMORPG's have. There is no information available today that indicate that WoW will have a different evolution pattern.

I tend to disagree here. I think I witnessed all MMOG startups starting from EQ (I was playing UO at the time), and there never was so big expectation and blind trust on a game than in WoW, with SWG in a second, distant place, and I'd place Shadowbane as third.

From the words of people waiting for it, it was simply impossible that Blizzard could screw it - they were going to do nothing new, sure, but in a way that was just better than everything else, thus perfect. No more nerfs, overpowered classes and unbalanced game - no way you can have unbalanced classes with just 5-6-7 to tune instead of the 40+ of daoc AND it's Blizzard m8s !!! Stable servers were just a safe point, hell, it's 2005 AND it's Blizzard again !

Of course, reality impact was slightly tragicomic. Too big expectations for a product that it's surely good, but far from the Perfection Online that was painted (and masterfully used by Blizzard marketing), and that's going to have all the normal first months problems as all MMOGs had.

Thing alot of you are forgettiing ... is wow is actually good ? Ive got lvl48 priest on usa wow and im loving it. Just check out the reviews it got if in doubt. Won game of the year @ gamespot beating half life 2 and doom 3 ?

Daoc died for me after completing 1000 unfun hours of pve to get ml10 then to find out to be a viable group needed to be rerolled again, which meant another 1000 hours of boring daoc pve. TOA also killed off all my alts which made the game boring. Mythic add timesinks to keep you playing by ruining classes .. how frigging ghey is that. Dont trust them at all now. NF is shit and well catacombs looks like no improovement at all.

Lets see how blizzard do things now.

I wouldn't abandon a game I have played for more than 4 years to some new rookie MMORPG shit. Thats right.. WoW will contain 90% D2 players and the averange age of those will be sub puberty. Which means there will be loads of people like the old Hansi, Gimmly, i.e annoying people.

Yes there will be alot of idiots in WoW that is for sure, but they are in all games, daoc is definetly not spared from its more than fair share. There will also be alot of great ppl in WoW. For the idiots there are always /ignore like in daoc

won game of the year beating doom 3 and halflife 2 ?

wasnt too hard considering doom 3 required the nasa super computer to run and halflife was completale in under 10 hours on the hardest settings.

WoW vs First person shooter = totally different playing experience.

Anyway wish people would stop trying to convince me that i should run blindly to blizzard remember i went for a job with them so ive actually seen inside the blizard offices and i know where they all work, (btw also met the ex gm of excal who is also working for blizard)

Hope people leaving have fun which they arnt having here but lets face facts invested a lot of time in daoc i just hope that the people leaving are the high realm rank enemy so it gives some of us mere mortals a chance to compete
