Would being a part time State Executioner get to you?

cos the justice system has proven to be 100% correct throughout history
I doubt as an executioner, you'd be told about the ins and the outs of the case, all you'd be told is you're killing Mr X on this date. For all you know it could of been wrong place wrong time.

You quitting wouldn't save people, you not doing what you do wouldn't postpone the execution.

Isn't this the arguement that War Criminals use when justifying their actions? While it may or may not have been wrong they were just doing what they were told to do and it was their job?
