Well, 2 days ago my brother bought "Titan Quest", a completely new game. It looks nice, has some Diablo feeling and filled with cool ideas....in theory.

The game itself fails to work due to the copy protection, so we both have to play it with a crack, really nice if you have the original.

That's ofc the minor issue. Less fun is, that the game crashes after 5-15minutes on a lot of people's computers cause the game tries to load data from a wrong folder.

Even more funny: After some time of playing and thinking your character is nicely saved, if you try to come back, your savegame will crash the game to windows, utterly destroying it.

So after experiencing these totally nice things, what are the worst bugs you've seen in a computer game? =)

Well, I was doing some nifty driving in GTA San Andreas, I jumped out of my car, which span over me, pinning me to the ground.

Couldnt move, had to restart :p

Yep, the crash bug with Titans is quite well known. Think its just a case of waiting for them to patch it.

Its extremly buggy, but I found a tip that helped a few (it still doesnt work for me though)

C:\Documents and Settings\Danne\My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest\Settings\options.txt (change "Danne" for your login name ofc)

Edit the file options.txt and change the following row:

forceSingleProcessorMode = false

It should read true

So after the change it should read

forceSingleProcessorMode = true

Save it and start the game up and it might work.

Apparently this helped a few friends of mine but I stil ahve problems on my duale Core system.
Prob seems to be crashing if you are using no-cd ... i've now got my original but it is protected with SecurRom which was not recognising the disk as an original because i have Daemon tools (stupid piece of crap) - they must have spent a fortune on this crap protection and its already cracked before the game is officially released and all it does now is piss legitimate customers off.

Anyway - given my problems with getting it to run I installed RELOADED's file which updates a number of files - after this i was crashing every 10 seconds. I re-installed the game and now I just used Secure Rom Loaded 1.2 and the game is as stabe as any other - just 1 crash in 4 hours.

Maybe worth you guys who don't have 100% legit copies going to Gamecopyworld.com and downloading the mdf image and then using Secure Rom Loader as it suggests there.

nicked from LoE boards once again but may help you out in the crashes.

There's also a post on VN boards you may wanna read for Titan Quest click here :)

I had to disable Daemon Tools, even with crack.....but most retarded, now my VM's don't have DvD drives anymore.

Haha yes... so looking forward to Daikatana 2 aka S.t.a.l.k.e.r. - Shadow of Chernobyl.
No, it has nothing to do with Daikatana. It just follows its lead: Had a great concept, initial release scheduled for may 2005, gameplay washed down, now scheduled for 2007.

Use SecuRom Loader... just download the proggy, put it in a folder and edit your game shortcut so source says something like this: "C:\Programs\SecuRom Loader\asr.exe" -r D:\Games\Titan Quest\Titan Quest.exe

It runs more or less stable for me but is very sensitive to background processes. Shut down everything you don't need. (But laugh at the guy on VN suggesting to shut your Antivirus down! Just exclude the game from scans instead.)

* right click on titan quest.exe
* select the compability tab
* [X] Run this program in compability mode for: Windows 98/ Windows ME
* [X] Disable virtual themes
* [X] Turn off advanced text services for this program
* run asr.exe

runs flawlessly without any crashes for me and my friends, and a lot of people on nforce forums. also, doesnt matter what you got running in the background as long as you dont have anti-blaxx.exe running.

Titan Quest is just another example of overhyped junk and people all over the world seem to keep falling for those cheap marketing tricks over and over again.
Daikatana, Black&White, Oblivion.. they all scored 101 of 100 points in the previews and they´re all crap, either technically (buggy) or design-wise... or both. Here´s my personal "careful!" checklist. The more "yes" a game scores, the worse.

Was the game hyped by the media, magazines etc.?
[yes] [no]

Is it a licenced product (Star Wars, LotR etc.)?
[yes] [no]

Is it "the next big thing of Designer legend XY"?
[yes] [no]

Is it a Sequel to a successful series with new technology?
[yes] [no]

Is it a Blizzard or E.A. product?
[yes] [no]

cant remember what game it was, might have been Hitman: Blood money or something. you couldnt install it unless you had 5 gig:ish free space on C:, as i use C:. you could work around it and change the default install folder to another drive through regedit etc etc etc, but i doubt people that use computers loads can figure that one out.

i cant exactly remember how it was. it asked for install folder on page3 of the install process, but it checked if you had enough room before you chose folder. so on page2 it checked standard install directory for space before you was given the chose to chose a new install path... very stupid system :)

and titan quest bugs _alot_. and it seems very random so i dont trust any of the "fixes" thats been published yet, ive had one 5 hour session without crush only to have it crash 30 times in 30 min directly after :p

Level 16 Conjurer (Spirit/Earth) here and loving it too.

I played a bit with the gfx drivers and for ATI the Omega 3.8.221 seems most stable for me. With the latest driver installed the game crashed very frequently on my machine.

Worst bug I have ever seen in a game is on the PC version of The War Of The Worlds. It's a real-time strategy game, but with the slight twist that the U.K. is split into so many areas and the aim is to destroy the central base of the enemy. If you are playing as the humans you have to destroy the Martian base deep in Scotland and if you are the Martians you have to destroy the Houses of Parliament in the London arena. The game plays fine for so long, then when you get to a certain point it just keeps crashing every 2 minutes or so and dumping you back to the Desktop. It becomes completely unplayable.

BZZ. Wrong. Titan Quest is actually a very nice game, even tho I could follow your list to weed out the shit games, Titan Quest wouldnt be one of them. I've been playing for a few days, and frankly, its very good. I'm now a lvl 30 pyromancer(earth spec) and I'm having loads of fun.

We're running Titan Quest on two machines below the minimum recommended spec - gets a bit jerky when there are lots of things on screen but it has been (touch wood) entirely stable.

There's a patch coming on Wednesday which should sort out some of the issues.

I'd never read a review or any hype about it bought it exepcting to be disappointed and I'm loving it so much had to go buy a 2nd copy the next day so my other half could play with me.

I could run BF2 on an XP2000+, with 512MB of ram and a Raedon 9600. Granted this was on lowest settings, but its hardly a hard-core system, plus playing on low settings gives nice advantages over playing on high settings!

The GFX on high end stuff look absoultley amazing, although I wouldnt sacrifice framerate for quality in a FPS :)

Not sure what this thread is getting at, but the "worst" I've seen in a game has been some of the things ppl have said in DAOC.

the F.E.A.R. copy protection. Even the patch that was supposed to fix the problems with it did squat all.
There was a fix from the makers of the copy protection used, but that fix was neither linked nor mentioned on any official FEAR homepage.

Wonder why they fail to put a fix, that is ready and working, into the patches.

How on earth can you enjoy FIFA when Pro Ev is on the market?. FIFA is just so unplayable imo, once you have played pro ev.

I found it the opposite. Fifa isnt all that realistic, but in return, its alot more fun to play.

So true, I bought FIFA 2004 for ps2, had bunkered up with chips and stuff like that to have a nice gaming evening with a few mates. Played for 5 minutes or so before we turned it off, was fucking unplayable. Plugged in pro evo after that and the evening was saved. ;)
