Im not sure who did it but whoever decided that a house beat over Jefferson Airplanes 'Need somebody to love' (cant remember at this time in the morning exactly what its called) should be shot. With a blunderbuss.
Boogie Pimps. It's the very pinnacle of musical abhorrence. They've ruined one of the greatest songs ever written.

Well said. Has to be the worst ever, followed closely by Sheryl Crowe - Sweet Child o' mine
Dear god, she didn't, please tell me she didn't...

As for Under the bridge, it was god awful. However it did amuse me slightly to have lots of pre teen kids singing along to a song about smack addiction....

Oh yes she did, it's terrible. Almost reminds me of the time I heard muzak versions of the gnr classics, including welcome to the jungle, and mr brownstone!

Same goes for "There She Goes" by Sixpence, I don't know if they realised that The Las version was actually about heroin.

This thread has been bothering me because I knew there was something no one had mentioned which was worse than all of these so far. Then yesterday I finally remembered! The worst cover ever:

Louise - Stuck In The Middle With You

His cover wasn't any different to the original, which was shite anyway. The Doors version is dead gud, however.

I didn't mind lb's cover of behind blue eyes.

Worst cover ever = Goldfingers cover of 99 Red Ballons.

You are mad, the cover totally owns the original. Way more energetic and better produced + the german verses make it different and better.

As for worst covers ever, is there ANYTHING worse than the tranced up covers of happy hardcore tunes being put out atm?

DJ sammy and the twats who covered pretty green eyes.

etc.

Yes, because energy always denotes a good song.

I have to agree with the Madonna cover of American Pie being woeful, but the cover that always gets my goat is that Godawful, boppy version of Baker Street. Now Thats What I Call Shite. And I don't even know who did it.

Think that was 'Undercover' who did that. They were an act who specialised in very bad beepy style cover versions in the early 90's.

Well, that Alex popidol/popstars winner, dont know which show since their all the same, anyways, was in SOmerfield today and i noticed her album and thinking yeah "album" i picked it up and looked at the track list...

Every, single, god-damn song on it was a fucking cover, which really only enforces how shows like popstars and pop idol cannot make pop stars, they win the show and just sing covers, such originality, on a side note theyre all a load of crap too. :p

Will & Gareth - Long and Winding Road.

-----------------
As an aside the Westlife song Whatever (or hey whatever?) is a version of a song called Rainbow zephyr by relish. I just found it kinda wierd that the only thing they changed was the words. The tune and how it's sung are all the same. Just surprised me, they usually change something of the tune. (put dodgy beeps in the background and such).

Whichever whiney girl-band is responsible for the cover of 'There She Goes' by 'The La's' should be dropped into a vat of boiling lead. Fuckers!

I agree with your view of the 'Mad World' cover. It's awful. They've totally removed the spirit of the orginal.
