This is an issue close to my heart. You see I get free drinks as a perk of my job although the actual contents of the drink usually bare no resemblance to the name.


Take tea, or as I call it mud with water.
Coffee from the canteen, concentrated mud with water.

But the best is from the machines, the coffee is decent. But alas if someone before you say had cherry pop, you end up with cherry coffee.


More recently I've discovered the meeting rooms have brand spanking new machines with decent everything, even ickle milk containers.


I was wondering what everone else does about this situation every break time.

Our machine dispenses ok stuff which is not fresh in any way.

Or we can make our own tea/ coffee using tea bags and instant coffee with fresh milk.

I dont use the machine much...


Some offices you have to pay to use the machines or bring your own stuff in...

Nescafe Cappuchino/Latte instant mix. Just add hot water/hot milk (as it already has the correct ammount of sugar/coffee/milk dried in the sachet) and it's really nice :]

We have a trolly service they come round we have free coffee, choclate, tea, and orange!

We have free water! I'm pretty sure tho the cooler hasn't been cleaned for a long time and contains more legionaires than the science labs investigating it.

Failing that people go put the kettle on and make a cup. Personally I don't rate the hygene levels so provide my own food/drinks

BAh we have loads of chilled water in fact its about a 5 second waddle away. Just discovered one of the machines does a cup-a-soup type free drink. Will report back

Well, free, as in you dont have to insert money, although in the long term, I guess we pay as part of our package, kind of.

The thing I miss most about working with Dys is his superb tea making.

Place I worked last summer (and am hoping to work again this summer) has a fridge with free Coke/Sprite/other soft drinks. I think there's a place to make tea/coffee too, but I never investigated that far.

Oh, and a free company pool table

I have a cafe nero and Tesco metro within two minutes walk. Both do excellenté iced coffees. Alternatively, we have like, this kettle thing, man. It boils semen alive.

The following is all free at my work.
We get real coffee. All the tea we can drink, caffeinated or decaff. We have orange juice, blackcurrent and orange squash. Coke diet coke, coke with lemon (diet too) ginger beer, tango, Lilt, 7up. Sparkling and flat water.

Free crisps (all sorts of flavours but I dont eat them), wagon wheels penguins, go ahead bars, Jordans bars.

Free yogurts, Muller rice, all sorts of flavours. Muller lights. Those lemon cheese cake ones, orange balls ones. Diet ones (Weight watchers) My favourite bananna and chocolate flakes.

We've had this for 4 1/2 yerars now but I cant see it going on for too much longer as we have 80 people no.

Still I have to say mixing orange juice and sparkling mineral water at 3:00 pm is the best on a hot day.

On top of that we regularly get to scavenge the buffets that are for visitors (they always get too much)

People are always bringing in cake (cant remember the last day summit didnt arrive on the table.

Now for the Ironic side.

I'm on a diet so I dont get to eat any of the food. Still Im losing weight despite the odds.

I make that into a small cup under my desk to save the bother of walking to the loos! J/K

seriously though: when my boss or someone else doesn't make the teas I 'make' a cup of water from the chilled bottle of mineral water and a cup! I am currently on a teamaking strike, after one day saying to myself 'ffs I made about 15 cups of tea today & only drank 3!!! ffs" /me downs tools (kettle & spoon)



btw I prefer coffee, pref blend 37 or sometimes cap colombie, occasionally dowe egberts, but usually I get nescafe original

I have been nominated to make the drinks at 9 and at 10:30 and 3 at any other time someone else makes it.

we just got a huge urn but spouts out yuky buring hot water
