when i get on the char selection screen and click play, nothing happens

At a guess, related to the newest bit on the DAOC Europe website:
"All servers will be coming down at 9am BST (10am CET) for a first maintenance of 30 minutes. This is for a binary files update.
Then, at 1pm BST (2pm CET), they will come down again for another maintenance of 30 minutes or so.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but these maintenances are both needed."

If ya still got the prob I would say, reinstal DAoC and try again

Yeah i had something like that once mil if u reinstall it should work thing is u gotta download the patches again

Your post was timed on Barrysworld at 12:25 - Barrysworld timings are 1 hour before current UK time (BST), it's now 8:41 BST in the UK..... so you were posting at 13:25 BST, which was in the time when the second part of the announcement said the servers would be down - 13:00 to about 13:30 BST...

when i looked there was about 50 people on the server so i tryed to log on, i got to the character selection screen then it wouldnt let me play after that. but it doesnt matter now because it worked after i restarted the game.
