What are you experiences with this? Think mine are coming through, well one. I'm in loads of pain with it but paracetamol fix it.

Has anybody had them taken out? I heard you have to go in hospital etc for this procedure?!

I had all 4 out under general anaesthetic about 10 years ago, one of the roots was a couple of mil from a nerve so that was the only way they could do it. I couldn't eat solid food for nearly a week as I had a lot of stitches in my mouth. Was playing football and drinking beer (against doctors orders) the next day so its not that of a big deal really. There was a bit of bleeding now and again, nothing major.

The actual teeth have caused me a problem with one of my molars though, the way one of them was growing was straight into another tooth, the hole was on the gum line though and cant really be filled. I think its about to collapse so booking myself an appointment to get it looked at, will be my 2nd filling, the first being a fix to a broken tooth rather than a cavity, I am lucky to have good teeth.

I don't think you always have to go to hospital, It depends on the situation, either way its best to get them looked at straight away, I left mine as I rarely bother with the dentist and just made it worse.

Talk to your dentist, they only take out wisdom teeth if they are causing a problem. The pain is short term, once it's come through it will pass.

When my 4 came out they where riddled with holes, the only ones i´ve ever had, 3 the dentist could pull out without any anaesthetic, the 4th one was hocked around the bone and needed a wee bit surgery to remove, cut up the gum all the was down. Took about a week before i could eat solid foods again.

I've had my fair share of trouble with them as well. Didn't hurt so much when they came out, but they pressed the other teeth so close together that i had to pull out 3, or was it 4 other regular ones. One of them the anaestethic didnt work on because of an inflammation so i could feel all the pain when they pulled it.

Beg for some luck with those wisdom teeth.

Had all 4 removed under general anaesthetic in a hospital. My mum had it way worse, she is alerigic to the gas used so had hers taken out with only standard painkillers to numb the pain a bit. She said it was as bad as giving birth.

Wisdom teeth are a pain in the butt for many people - I was lucky, all 4 grew quite fast, and pain free, when I was 20 yrs old.

I recently removed one though (I'm 31 now), it was deprecated, and it was causing me great pains when chewing food - the removal itself was pain free (local anesthetic), but the guy spent like 15 minutes trying to dislodge it - it had 5 very well embedded roots. I keep it in a jar on my desk :)

No pain after the anesthetic wore off either, just a sore spot where it once was for about 2 weeks.

Thing is, I know of many people who had issues with them, either ingrown, or grown in the wrong direction, pushing against the cheek or adjacent teeth.

Pain medication is tricky, as it often hides a potentially serious issue - you alleviate the pain, but you're not actually handling the problem. Should be careful, especially if we're talking about the ones on the top - an infection can easily spread to your ear or brain.

God I hate teeth.. bout 7 months ago I had possibly the greatest pain you could ever imagine, that bad I was almost crying sometimes and guzzling codine 24/7 - I think you could compare the pain to having a red hot poker iron stuck on a very sensitive nerve of your body all day long.

Worse part was when chewing food if you chewed and pushed up on that tooth that was hurting it'd get 100x worse so eating was a piss take :( in the end dentist said I had some infection or something :p can't rememeber the exact name of it but its gone now :> he also said you should rinse your mouth with warm water with salt in atleast once a week as its meant to be really good for preventing infections despite its rank taste.

Think yourselves lucky, mine have been coming down seperately over the last 15 years, my 4th and final one has recently just broken the skin and is at a funny angle so this one could be the worst of all. Why the fuck do they take so long to come down as well? One of my lower ones took 4 bloody years.

mine all came through no problem, I had to get one out because it was a bit far back but that was just at the dentists under normal anestesia (didn't have the puffy face stuff lol).

I guess I'm just lucky, have had no real problems with my teeth thankfully because people I know who have just say they are the bain of thier lives lol.

I only had my first one come through at 29, and no indication the others are on their way.

Sort of like mine, but theres a hole in my gum with a hard peice (hopefully tooth) sticking out. It's been like this for like 3 months+.
