right you guys, i need a new wireless router.

i currently have a netgear MR314, but unfortunately, i get shit range in my house and it doesnt have an external aerial connection. I've had a quick look in to it but nothing to deep yet, and was wondering if to go with standard wan router with a good switch and a good WAP or get another all-in-one like the mr314.
whatever it is its pretty crucial for it to have an ext antenna connection so i can get some decent range out of it.

any advice taken, especially on improving my wireless range :)

actually, another option;
i took the router apart yesterday and when i got it open i discovered the wireless stuff is done by a netgear ma401 (iirc) 802.11b pcmcia card, which just seemed to be plugged in to a connector on the board, do you think it would be possible to just exchange the card for something a little better like maybe a lucent card that does have an ext antenna connection on it?

I just upgraded my old SMC Wireless router, because it kept crashing when my PS2 connected to it. I got a WRT54G from Linksys. I'd heard a lot of horror stories from it but the only device that doesn't currently work on it is my iPAQ 5450
