I'm looking for a cheap way to send sound from my Mac to my Hifi, ideally wirelessly since they are in different rooms. Any suggestions?

Probably the simplest way would be to get a small FM transmitter (googling around, I found this one: http://www.digiana.net/product/dg101.php). Plug the Mac speaker/headphone output into the transmitter, and tune the radio on the HiFi to it's frequency -- being careful of course not to exceed the legal output power limits and avoiding stamping over another radio station's signal.

If you are unphased by soldering, places like Maplin sell FM transmitter kits (PCB + parts) very cheaply.

That would work Tom, but I'm hoping for a £20 solution rather than a £90 solution. The radio transmitter idea seems more complicated than it should be, sorry.

Cool, just what I was looking for. Need a good FM transmitter to use with my laptop after my music system in my living room stopped playing CDs but radio works fine. There are some pretty cheap & crap transmitters out there, but the Digiana seems like one of the better ones.

Going to buy the Audia X 201. Drool over the beautiful looking new Simbox 3 but out of my price league.
