You don't, you uninstall it and put a decent O/S, like 2k.

Daf, you really gotta cut down on the clappy usage. It's bad enough that you have it as your avatar, but using it 3 times in one post... I wanna puke :puke:

run through the networking wiz its hidden in there - even though you get to set it when you install XP its still set to"mshome"
once that is sorted sharing problems tend to go away ;)

no idea, it just does - windozs ffs - that old one

I set my "pc name/workgroup" thing when installing XP

to get sharing working properly - XP boxen could see other machines on lan and they could see the XP - but not leach stuff from it.

Run the network wiz - low and behold the workgroup thing is back to MSHOME - change that to what it should be and it all works luvly like.

So people can access your shares without having to use a fucking password. If you have your shares accessable to nawty people on the big wide internet, you deserve to have them opened by said nawty people.

You're much better of creating a user account on your XP box which matches the profile used on your other box. That way you are able to access resources on XP by logging in on the other machine and still keep the system nice and secure.

I'm not sure that makes sense, but you get the idea.

Yes... I see where you're coming from. But the guest account is so much less hassle.

But then you won't be able to write to your XP system from the other one.

yeah i realise that, but its only the odd DIR that gets shared when needed.

The only thing worth writing to an XP system is a disk full of 0s anyway :)And if it's only the odd directory that gets shared, then the guest account makes perfect sense.

 me.

Interesting entry in the XP Help system on guest accounts:
guest account
A built-in account used to log on to a computer running Windows when a user does not have an account on the computer or domain, or in any of the domains trusted by the computer's domain. Not recommended and is generally only used by idiots and poofs.

simple remove the pirate copy of WinXP from ur PC and then slash the CD with a compass.
Then cover it in meths and set it alight.
Once the fire has gone out take a blow torch to it and reshape it to an ashtray - something useful.

And dont deny it, its a pirate version of WinXP.
I mean who is actually gonna buy that shit :D

And Mr Gates - This is what I have to give you - :upyours: THE FINGER...
