The fantastic snowy weather prompted me to take my new camera out for a few shots. Has anyone else taken any festive snaps this Christmas?

Wow they look sweet. :)

Unfortunately I let my friend borrow my camera as he was going on holiday to India, his flight landed just as the natural disaster thingy occured, so my camera is probably submerged by now. :(

Very nice shots there Nos, wishing it would snow here but nothing so much as a 5 min light snow has come over to my area, wishing it would, waking up to a crisp snow-white morning is wonderful. :)

Judging from this review the DSC-P150 looks like an excellent choice.

However, if you don't mind having a larger camera I'd highly recommend the Panasonic DMC-FZ20 (which took all of the photos in my first post).

Nice pictures indeed.

Unfortunately we never have much snow here in SE Essex and the little that does fall comes usually in February or March just as we think we are coming out of winter.

You should have got the EOS 300d, Jessops do it on intrest free credit and Canon give you £100 cashback at the moment. And the lens bundles are very good.

Aye I got me a 300D the other month. Great camera.

Depends if they want the manual control tbh, if they don't then there's no need to spend that much money on a digicam.

You don't need a DSLR for manual control, and if you were to buy one the Nikon D70 is the budget choice of champions :worthy:

The thing is, if it isn't an SLR its gonna have a crap lens, most likely non-interchangeable.

I have a Sony digital camera that I use for Ebay shots, house stuff, and general messing around. I still use my EOS300 for the meaty stuff, because I don't believe that digital is yet close enough to film to make me shell out for a new one. I can buy a 30 year old OM-1 that will knock spots off a D70 with a good slide film in.

The tilted shot of the road and trees is very nice, I'd consider putting it in a white frame with a feathered border. The last shot would be better if the light was on the front of the house, but as is they're all very nice :)

I'm off out tonight to finish off a film, gonna get it developed tomorrow, its full of my winter photos :)

It is possible to buy a non DSLR with a half decent lens. My Panasonic has Leica glass while the Olympus C8080WZ features a Zuiko lens. Obviously a DSLR will allow you to change the lens to suit and give you access to far superior optics, but that's not to say that a non DSLR isn't worth salt.

I'm referring more to the cramped optics than the quality of the glass.

True it may be a bit secluded and probably haunted, but the views from the back of that place are stunning :D

Seeing as it's only me and Milou and Trem who want to post some pictures then I'll have to add some more to keep the thread on topic :---)

Had to pull into someones driveway to get this shot (naughty)

Oh you bastard, why did you have to tell me about the d70. I want that now, but it costs more and Nokon don't do £100 cashback :/

I wanted to take so many of the snow but my camera is gay. Just waiting for a replacement.

Last one is the road going up to the Barlaston estate :D

Do you live in Barlaston Nos?
