Windows 2000+CS

I have just recently formatted my pc and installed Win 2k on it(after XP decided to not connect to the net), I really wanna use 2k as it seems less slow on certain things. I have installed and tried 2k before and after a couple of days I have gone back to XP due to CS not appearing to run as smooth. I've done my rates and I've done fps_max to just above my monitor refresh rate. I have all my 3d card options off except V-sync(which I've never used before but it seems to help to smooth it out now). I have done all the mouse stuff and it still seems to struggle/become jerky when turning corners etc.

I have a P4 2.4, 256 ram, Gainward Ge Force 4 4600 gold sample, Abit IT Max 2 mobo. I'm using the most recent official Dets, the 40s made it run cack.

Quite confusing m8, I use XP as you know, so I dont know how much help any of this will be, but I use fps_max as the same as my refresh rate, and always leave vsync on. Thats all I can think of at the moment sorry

The V-Sync definately helped Throddy, its doing me head in now though, it seems like I'm running faster because the graphics are drawing slower or summat, the weird thing is it seems to have improved my game :/

I use 2k, and I noticed the same effect once, and the cause was the gfx drivers, changing them sorted it.

That's about all I can offer to help, it was only a one off for me.

Hmmm, everything is perfect on my System, except the "Rolling Graphics" on my Monitor, ive put V Sync on and i havent noticed any "Rolling" yet but its still early days heh.

I am on the 30.32 (I think thats right?) NVidia Dets because as you say, anything above that is utter wank.

Also, ive been told by certain people around, that Windows2000 isnt really meant for Games, but more Serious Stuff... which is probably why XP seems "Faster". I could be wrong but its what ive picked up here and there

my win2k (service back 3) with the beta beta dets works fine. i haven't messed with any gfx setting tho

by default you will be locked at 60Hz refresh in fullscreen opengl in win2k.

Get ftp://ftp.murky.net/progs/reforce.zip to fix0r it.

Assuming that is your problem.

Type net_graph 3 or whatever in your console to see framerate.

Hmm.. that sorted my FPS Cap

Now get 85fps

Simple solution to your question Tremor

Go into bedroom
Open window
Hurl PC out of window
Cry in realisation of what you just did
Get wallet out
Buy new PC
