Hi,
I'm having problems with my windows 2000 machine crashing. I recently upgraded to two hard disks, on my 2nd drive i have a 10GB partition for games.
If i were to play anarchy online for a few hours, and then switch to another game, the machine will bluescreen and auto restart while loading the game.
For example, if I play AO, then UT. The moment UT tries to render something (switches to fullscreen and gets to the end of precahing). This also happened to Avp2 MP demo.
I'm not a big gamer, and dont play any other games regularly enough to find out if it happens with any others.
I've had this problem since gettin my new hard disk, and since buying Anarchy Online (i got both at roughly the same time).
I have also had this problem in the past with my old hard disk (that i threw out), but when i took it out the problem stopped. Now i have a new hard disk in there it has started again.
When i had the problem before, it was not so regular, it would happen randomly (eg if i opened notepad, or a MP3).
I cant afford for the PC to crash often as its an ICS server as well, and if i crash, then all the PC's on the net lose internet acceess. Which means i get it in the neck from my flatmates.
Other than this, the Pc is 100% stable. Before i put the hard disk in, i could play games, do video editing, play mp3's all i wanted with no crashing.
I regularly use the PC for video editing, and i NEED the hard disk space as i havea lot of uncompressed MPEG files I work with.
Are there any known Win2k bugs along this line?
Anyone help me out with this?
System Specs:
AMD T-Bird 1Ghz
KT7-A (non-raid) MB (with latest bios update)
Sound Blaster Live 1024
GF2-MX 64
300W Power supply (this PC ran happily on a 250w before i blew it up, so no problems with this)
IBM Deskstar 40GB 5200rpm (Windows / Media / Misc)
Matrox 40Gb 7200rpm Hard disk (games / files)
Yes i have all the relevant patches for my hardware (PCI latency / 4in1 / SP2 / "win2k+athlon" fix)
Any help appreciated
