Ok, i have a new box (P4 2.4ghz, 1GB DDR Intel D845 Board) when i run the text portion of the win 2k setup everything goes through fine, when it reboots it just sits at a black screen with a flashing underscore character.

Any ideas why?
The hardware must be compatible?
THe drive is 60 gb, 1 5bg partition and 1 55gb partition, formatted etc...

Help me :(

I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but this could be a hardware compatibility issue with Win2K.

Try and boot into safe mode. To do this hold down the F5 key while booting and choose safe mode at the options screen.

If this works then you have a hardware compatibility issue.

My first stop would be the graphics card and its display drivers. Try with a different graphics card if you can. Firstly however I would remove the drivers if you can get into safe mode (change display drivers to a standard VGA setting).

If it boots normally after this, get the latest drivers for your card and try those.

If you still have a problem then try removing all the hardware you can from the box until you have just the bare necessities and try to re-boot.

hope this helps a little.
