Right, generally you are extremely helpful and I would normally ask you anyway, but in this case it is definately a problem you can help me with. I have downloaded BF1942 and the patch, when I start it up and you get to the main menu all the writing is just blocks(no writing at all), is this a problem with our gfx cards(radeon 8500) or is it just a bad download(I have got it 3 times now from 3 different sites), I have also downloaded direct x 8.1b.
Any ideas?

I looked for it and couldn't find it so I assumed there wasnt one, besides theres more chance of Will seeing it here, us Radeon owners are few and far between so general will be better I feel.

Tremor are you running XP, cos I had the same problem with GTA3, it got fixed by applying a Microsoft patch, Which I still happen to have sat on my desktop, call into irc or pm me and I'll send it to you, save searching for it.

Trm, I had no problem at all getting it running. I think I have the most up-to-date drivers, but its a different set for XP and 2k. I've heard no end of swearing from XP owners about their Radeons, while mine has been trouble-free.

Got it sorted out now, thnaks anyway Will, it was my drivers, I got the new catalyst drivers and BF runs like a dream now, and oh my god how good is that game!!

Kenny's been playing this game obsessively, and is trying to get me into it too. I hijacked one of his games and tried to fly a plane, but some suicidal fool jumped on board too and was none too pleased with his three second life span as I ploughed plane and contents into a tower.
