Will Catacombs render most current Artifacts useless?

A bit strong to say they will be rendered useless I suppose, but most 'must have' Shrouded Isles goodies didn't remain so after TOA....

What do you think?

As i understand it cata items will have PvE only bonuses, like more exp%, less exp loss at death, less time res sick etc. The expansion is geared mostly towards <50's.

Hmm. I'm not sure about this, maybe someone else is though, but, wasn't SI's soulpurpose to deliver new area's to XP in, while ToA's 'purpose' is to offer an extended end-game (artifacts and ML abilities were intially aimed at level 50).

I heard that Catacombs will be more of a leveling expansion... Or something..

Never mind. I have no idea :-x

Catacombs sounds shit content wise, but there may be a few items that are uber. In terms of SI uber though, necklace, gem, bracer, ring quests etc.

I'm hoping they add some means of restoring dur, cos chances are all my artifacts will have worn out by the time Catacombs goes live...

When Mythic announced ToA and ML's they said that it should not affect RVR combat...But now we see that ToA has made the biggest change for RVR combat in the whole DAoC history (well ok, in terms of being uber and having abbilities to use in RVR and stuff....so not talking about NF-kind of change here).

i think even nf will render some artifacts useless . cant remember where i seen screenies but there are some UBER items in passge of conflict. stuff with absorb debuffs procs/charges on. and other awesome stuff.

but thyey way i see it items from ALL over the realm will be needed. cos after all there are a lot of casual amers who cant/dont strive to power game there toons to max tweekedness lol ... so those sidi/si/toa stuff that hard working peeps who have more time ingame .. those will sell for cheaper on cm's hence casual gamers will b able to equip there chars better.

Catacombs will add something you NEED. It will probably not replace artifacts.

To think that nothing uber will be added is a bit naive.. they need to sell the expansion and the people with 50s are the biggest market. :)

I've a suspicion Catacombs will make crafted weapons usefull again, by adding "must have" procs which need to be farmed for hours and hours because of the 0.00001% drop rate. There was some mention of collecting 'materials' which can be crafted into items. I've no idea if these will be used by players or NPCs as I haven't been reading the Cat-beta forums... last time I tried it was "Overpowered" this and "OMG!" that :p

Didnt i hear that in catacombs you could mine for special new metal.

Speculation that this metal could be used for new armor tghat conviniently allowes a higher imbue, or maybe 5 slots, then everyone can work on a better template again

If crafters get back on business will definitely be a nice thing.

i remember reading somewhere that crafters will be able to make better stuff in catacombs, like patterned armour etc, also possibly being able to sc necklaces and cloaks, not 100% sure tho. there are bound to be more uber stuff to collect, more uber mobs to kill aswell as new lower lvl areas to exp in (sick to death of Avalon City being the only place ppl want to grp in when there are much better places), dunno if i will get it straight away as i will be trying World of Warcraft :drink:

I'd be quite happy if it's just a great place to PL my lowbies with my Necro and get a lot of drops to salvage so I can buy the scrolls and artifacts that I have not got the time to farm myself because I have a job and a life!

If it was like DF but without so much aggro then that would be superb :)

I think that aggro gets distributed to the group (or pet owner )and not just the pet, making PL that more difficult, then again you do get the bonus levels to make it quicker for you

Heh, yeah. 1.71 straightens the leveling curve, doesn't it? That combined with Catacombs/1.72 is.. hey, that doesn't make sense? Why are they making leveling easier AND bring out a PvE expension?

Don't be ridiculous! You know I'm far too impatient for that

Anyway, who'd want to group with a Paladin with auto-training chants? :)
