Why ?

In the majority of the benchmarks P4 1.7 out performs Xeon 1.7 by quite a way. Any ideas ?

Hmm. Seems that Anand's benchmarks show that dual AthlonMP outperforms Dual Xeon even with a 0.5 GHz speed difference. Tom's seemed to say the Xeon platform was slightly faster :/

No comparison of P4s to Xeons on there though.

I'm as confused as a big muddled-up thing

cos it performs better than a Xeon ? Xeons are for MP workstations. U can't put a P4 in those anyway.

cos it performs better than Athlon ? Well it don't really, check the figures.

So why buy a P4 ?
