Why kill newbies?

Myself and my daughter started playing about 3 weeks back. We are casual gamers and has reached about level 15 on Hibernia. First time today we ventured to Darkness Falls to take a peek and maybe get some loot. Mob is tough so we stayed on the "front steps" so to speak. Twice a "purple" player came sneaking up and "instakilled" us both. After that we thought never to go back there again. I just must ask.. I realise this is a pvp zone, but what fun is it to kill newbies that clearly wouldnt venture any further into the zone? I also play Midgard, and there we are left alone by higher ranked players, so that we might get a chance to get into the game. Fair, and very nice which makes you feel welcome. They give you advice and even stuff to get you going. Why is Hib so different? No rant.. just.. curious :)

It's not that its hibs doing it.. Some people just do that, both in mid, hib and alb. You have people that dont "give a fuck" in all realms.. and.. in real life. It sucks, but thats just the way it is unfortunately :(

It's to bad someone slayed some greycons, but it happends. Mid never left me alone while killing mobs on my lvl 20 hero, but that's life. We all have our ups and downs ;)

Anyways I realy hope you and your daughter can enjoy the game even when this horrible things happen (sometimes).

Was it a mid player that killed you on the hib steps?
Darkness Falls is full of stealthers that will kill anything for the rps.
Regardless of your level.
If it's not 6 man sb/hunter zergs at the bottom of the steps ganking greys its fully buffed necros that run to the portal when they are losing.

It's just the thing with DF
Best to level up in the task dungeons for the aurulite gear tbh.

Some stealthers will kill greys in Df for free stealthlore and maybe to annoy the player thinging they will log there 50 chars or get a guildee to come to bring some action ... Others just do it for +title tbh

I cant talk personally ... on afew occasions i have ganked fg or greys with dotmine ... Mean ... but some people are just assholes :p

Thanks for your replies, and as I said.. didnt mean it as a rant really, was just curious about.. why? Must admit that Im too new to understand the whole thing about rvr points and stuff, but if its easy points then yeah.. I can at least see the point to beeing an asshole as someone so elegant put it ;) But I must wonder.. when this person reaches whatever the max level is from greys.. where will the feeling of achievment be?? Just a silent ponder..

Thanks all again :)

Most people have 50's already and greycons are merely considered *alts* not new players would be my guess.

look at it this way.

lets say youre an alb stealther, level 50, if you get in fight with a level 50 hib stealther, and a lowlevel druid standing next to him healing him while fighting you.. you will loose, if its a melee-character who helps in, it still makes your life worse because you lower your defense when fighting higher numbers, so easiser to just get rid of all the low level people at first.. plus killing low level players will make level 50 characters who is going to "hunt you down" appear.. so if its quiet, slap a few lowbies, get some fights.. :)

Hehehe, well that would be nice of you ;) But this guy sneaked up while we were fighting mobs and reeeeeally low at health. Admittingly the mob is way out of our leauge beeing all red, but its fun to see something new and adventure around a bit. Also know from Mid, thats its a good place for the seals to get armour. Just started that bit on mid so going to familiar places =)

And hey... IN A FEW DAYS??? Lol.. getting to 15-20 has taken us three weeks so if you have any tips on faster leveling.. pleeeeeease let us now ;)

And yeah, me and my daughter is still playing and having fun btw :D

With df now it is rare to come across the enemy xping, be it grey or yellow con, so maybe the ppl in question had looked all over with nothing to kill and been in df a long time. They simply decided that your better than nothing. I myself would of interacted with you in some way /hug /kiss or whatever, but then thats me. A long time back df was a major xp zone and was an assassins heaven with plentiful xpers there for the killing, an maybe some had a different atitude towards greys. I wouldnt kill greys simply because i didnt want to give my position away. Continue to xp in df because middy always seems to have it, the uncertainy of being killed by alb/hib ppl makes it more exciting maybe. Sure go to catacombes an do that stuff but it wont be as rewarding.

An Assassins view.

A while ago I used to rvr in df with my vw was probably my favorite haunt. Since comming back from a year break and lvliing my ns i tried df only to find it empty except a few grey cons. I killed a couple with my ns in hope of them bringing out their main or guild m8. Never happened ofc. Bring back old df fights imo!! Was the best thing in daoc.

When the change to DF ownership being decided on twrs DF action was at its peak, like 3-4fg from each realm in there at a time (with bug ofc).

I think for Mythic to revive DF they need to remove the entrance requirement so all realms can enter freely, couple this with double xp for the zone and better drops, possibly put in a few rvr underground keeps or towers and you'll have a fun dungeon for all again.

I know a few players who will attack and kill greys in DF without a second thought mainly because when they were xping they were shown no mercy by enemy higher levels.

My personal opinion is i'll leave them alone unless they become involved in a fight, then they are fair game and will remain fair game. Nothing to do with "adding" but if you help your realm mates out, you will suffer the same fate as them. I think thats fair.

They should make df access free for all. And add some sort of milegates to all the lowbie areas. With gates you can attack and destroy, but where lowbies can gather seals in relative peace. And when a gate goes down you get some warning like a horn blowing or the like! ;)

As for the attacking part, some people do, some people dont. I find it rather gimp, but it can indeed draw some higher lvls near, or it might make the git feel a tiny tiny bit less gimp by moving all the way out and finding no-one it could kill! Just keep having fun out there, plenty of people that can give a hand if you need help in the hib realm! ;)

if alb ever gets DF again, I'll come give you a hug with my scout. :)

My outlook:

I was always been killed while leveling in DF, so I don't feel obliged to not kill greys.
However,
If your leveling and you don't attack I'll usually just /curtsie and leave you to it
If you attack, like a mad 25ish vamp tried one day, you get killed

If your leveling but your name says that you have more rp's than is normal have you get killed, but no exp death.
An example: about a year ago around alline, there was a solo chanter leveling artis, quick duskwave check put him at 47 RR3 , waited till he was full health and started shooting him, pet starts to heal, and he attacks.
but he got agroed by 2x bears, so i slammed the two bears let him escape to the keep and ran off in the other direction.

If your getting a PL in a pvp area, the pl'ee gets killed no matter what, just for the +deathblows +solo kill for the titles.

And with my alts on Pryd/Hib , i've been killed in the same manner, sometimes by alb guildmates who don't know my alt chars, which gets em a /slap when I log back to excal.
