Why is my damage so bad?

i just got 45 today i decide i wil try out my damage on some hibs in DF. i find a green sat down so i pull my sword out (specd 44+7 slash) and i do a whopping 279 damage, this is on a green, who is sat down. My str is capped and my dex is about 20 points off being capped. Where did i go wrong?

edit: forgot to say i play an Armsman by the way.

I dont really see your problem that looks like its your damage cap for that weapon, and the damage looks about right for a 1h slash armsman

Sounds like your sword is the problem. its porbably 89-90% qua right?

Tell me, was he afk also? or did you strike him from behind?


On another note, which weapon did you use, dps/spd quality/durability... all make a difference.

I should think it'll be in your weapon (not that an Armsman -- well, a Sword and Board one at any rate -- is going to doing amazing damage anyway) but what is the weapon you're using?

Beyond that, perhaps because you're a 'n3bie'?

Your damage cap would be something like 160-170 without styles if you are sword (3.6 speed) and board user
With amathyst you can do a maximum of say 330-360 without critical

Don't think 279 on a green is that bad.

Nah she wasnt AFK, she had just killed a mob infact, which was the perfect time to strike (she had less Hps)

weapon = shimmering Arcanium long sword

quality = 98%

durability = 100%

Nah, its just it was the only chance, if i followd her around she would of seen me no doubt and escaped through the portal.

Do a shift and I to check actual dps after clamping etc,or try slotting diff weaps to check weap dam ie:-1410=14.1 dps.

Plus was the green you hit + or - to slash???

if he hit a sitting green con he 99.9999% was hitting his cap with that style. The +/- of damage type resists do not affect your cap.

my unstyled cap is 388, styled is 617 using annihilation/celtic rage (haven't been able to check cap on my target parries -- ultimate recovery --, and target blocks -- shatter -- styles tho). Given that I sacrifice on defence by having no shield, and have a probably slower weapon ( spd 5.2, as opposed to a long sword's 3.5 ) I think 279 is a not unrespectable dmg output for a moderately fast 1 hand slasher...

I cap at 295 with a guarded rapier (16.5 dps, 3.5 speed) with style so 279 doesn't sound that far out.

Also durability doesn't do anything to damage, it's only a number that tells you how long the item has to live.

It's Con(condition) that is brought into the damage calculation.

you should use netherium weapon at level 45 till 47 for best performance
