I disagree with you.
Azumi, Princess Blade, Ringu, Zatoichi to name a few.
The difference is that I like japanese samurai style films.
Ringu (the original version of The Ring) is one of the best thrillers in recent years IMO. Much better than much of what Hollywood come out with.

I also like my anime so don't get me started on that as well.
