Why be so picky about grouping?

I (mostly) play skald and never have a problem getting a group, but I really dont understand why people are so picky about who they group with... So what if people are 5-10-15 lvl's lower than you are? They will cap in xp and they may do the tiny difference that will make you able to take on harder mobs than you could before, and they will be gratefull for sure! I cant say that I've ever been to H or lair or whatever the highlvl places are, but I do know that one favour hardly ever goes unnoticed and most of the time come back ten-fold... Anyway, isnt it better to be a nice-guy/girl?
I have on more than one occasion invited peeps much lower lvl than me into groups and PL'ed them for a while, and on more than one occasion they have returned with their main to return the favour.
Last words : Is the quantity of the xp more important than the fun you have while making them?

depends what the class can offer the group, healers/shamans heal buff, PBT RMs can cut downtime, skalds dmg add and rest/speed songs nice, lower level on some classes simply doesn't justify it, it's pros and cons

well, once i've been in a group of 8 49 lvl - healer, shammy, supp rm, all the rest meleers. we got more than a bubble of exp inbetween dragontimes.
in usual non well balanced exp group (=2FGs of 43-49 lvl dunnowho) you won't get more than 0.5 bubs between dts

One of the funniest things that ever happened to me was when i made a runie alt, i was all proud about getting to lvl5 without speccing in dark and was enjoying the life of a supp runie and my shoddy dmging abilities.

realising that soloing was difficult due to my low dmg output i spoted a lvl6 thane looking for casters in the LFG box. msging him i offered my aid only to be replied with

"Sorry, your too low"

:/

I too have had a few problems most annoying when trying to find a group for my freshly made lvl 5 Healer:

I flagged myself as LFG and travelled the land between Galpen, Ft. Atla and Mularn hoping for someone to contact me (thinking Healers were in quite large demand as i always seem to be in grps wanting them with my other char's).
Unfortunately no invites appeared so i took it upon myself to look for a group myself.

I noticed a Berzerker lvl 8 group leader had their 'Looking for Seer' flag up so tried contacting them:

'Hi, you looking for a healer? I'm lvl 5'

'Can you rez?' - (Duh!! I thought it was common knowledge only lvl 10+ seers can rez, but i carried on regardless)

'Er, nope, only lvl 10+ can do that, can i still join you? I have my mend up to my lvl' - (Slight fabrication, only had 4 Mend but felt no harm in a little white lie)

'Sorry, you're too low then' - (This is the part the frustration of spending 30+ mins trying to find a grp and finally being told to sod off hit me)

'But you have a lvl 8 grp? I can still heal you enough to keep you alive'

'Nope still too low, spoke to my grp who are lvl 8-10, they all say you're too low, we need a rezzer' - (But surely if they had even a remotely good Healer they wouldn't need rezzing at all!)

'Oh, right' - (Realized i was fighting a losing battle and decided to add another name to my list of 'Who not to help in the future')

Even at this low lvl people are more worried about the ever so slight xp loss per kill, rather than thinking about the fact that having a healer (even without rez) has a good chance of stopping the group from losing virtually a bub if they mess up and die!

it never ceases to amaze me that because some ppl hava e slightly higher lvl /like lvl 8 vs 5 in the above example) they think they are so much better and are instantly experts.

i've played since beta (well 2 weeks at the end ;)), done the grind done most of what you can do in Midgard, im no super expert but i do know the ins and outs of the game to a fairly highlvl. So you could say ive been around the block a few times.

I use my 4th slot for experimenting with chars . Once when i rerolled a new char and started grping, a "higher lvl" (5 vs 9) toon gave me some lip about me being to low and i would wreck the xp, i proceededto asked "who's your main" (fairly normal question) and he replied "this is my first char", which i followed up with "on excalibur?" " No i bought the game three weeks ago" .. did a /who and he was lvl 9 ... sigh.. ohwell i moved along and grpd with some friends that also rolled a new toon (which i found out later ;)) .. did a /who last week roughly 2 months since the "incident" and he was lvl 23 ... just because they are 5 when you do a /who means that they are total beginners ;).
