Who's not seen Blair Witch yet (small spoiler)

I found the most 'terrifying' thing about the film was that your anticipation increased as you were waiting for 'something scary to happen'. Sadly, this didn't really happen for me and I left feeling quite disappointed. The four others I was with (including my wife) also felt the same. I had actually gone WANTING to be scared. But I wanted FEAR as opposed to SHOCK value. Sure you could have blood and guts or cat's jumping out of the cupboard, but Fear is more about the impending doom of characters that you actually FEEL something for!

(Spoilers getting a bit bigger here...)

I found that I couldn't feel anything for the characters in the time I was given. You therefore didn't give a monkey's about their impending doom.

So I ended up feeling 'God, this woman is SO annoying - I hope she gets it soon!', which is not really the point of the film I suppose.

Anyway, that's my thoughts. Give me Cape Fear or Silence of the Lambs or Psyco for REAL tension building.

And on next weeks show, I'll be talking to Pierce Brosnan about his new Bond movie.
Until then, Goodnight.

Don't bother.

Save your dosh and spend it on your phone bill instead.

Shame - I was looking forward to being scared out of my wits. Hardly raised an eyebrow though.

Actually, I saw it yesterday and thought it was terrifying....

Whether you like the film seems a very personal thing. Some of the people I was was with thought it was great like me, while others "had seen scarier hammer horror movies".

I'd suggest you go see the film and make up your own minds.
(Just make sure you steer clear of the hype

I saw the film yesterday too...

I didnt think it was about scaring you out of your wits...thats what the Hammer horrors and the knightmare on elm street type films try and do.
This film was much darker and more believable than most. It is shot in the first person, which really brings an up close and personal view of the fear being portrayed in the film.
It was pretty impressive to keep a packed Cinema audience gripped by it for an hour and a half, with only 3 characters, 2 cameras, no music score, and no special fx... I can't actually beleive it was made by Americans

I would advise you all to see it...Go into it with an open mind (don't sit there with your arms folded not wanting to be scared), just absorb the atmosphere of the film and you WILL enjoy !

Just dont arrange a camping trip for a few weeks

As the person who made the Hammer movie remark perhaps I should comment -- I actually disagree with Fatbloke and i think you should go and see it. I should also say that I think some hammer movies were very scary (the lesser shown ones) and that I still thought Blair Witch was good. i seem to be a minority of actually thinking it was OK - not brilliant or terrible - it had its moments but I just felt it didnt grab me totally.

I have to admit to thinking the same as fatbloke about the woman actor tho - she does get seriously annoying

And there is the one glaring error [SPOILER ALERT]

Why didnt they just follow the *&^( river instead of heading off into the forest with no map !

Indeed - that one never occurred to me! Nice one! The glaring mistake that I thought about was the fact that the woman, on finding remains of god knows what in a bunch of twigs...says NOTHING to her companion. DUH!
<sarky mode>And of course, as you do, when you hear cries of help from a collegue at night, you ALWAYS take your camcorder, 16mm film recorder and DAT recorder with you...just in case they might help you find him. A simple torch would be too convenient wouldn't it </sarky mode>

Laters all

The thing I liked was that they had food for three days, but enough batteries to last a fortnight...

I watched it today. And now i'm pissed, to many unanswered questions. Many of which have already been stated. But y didn't they make copies of the dam map! Only one compass and no whistle. Gs! They really should have invested in a GPS or a dam mobile!

Anyway, thats it for now. Check out the webby www.blairwitch.com/

I'm not saying i hated the film, so go see it and go watch it, or wait till it comes on the telly. Believe me it really ain't that scary.

film wasn't scary, in fact i almost fell asleep in the cinema!!

that shaky camera made me feel like vomiting half way through it.

i don't think the film itself was supposed to make you 'jump' or shock or terrify you while you're watching it....

it's the questions that it left that scared me....

the main one - who the hell was holding the b/w camera right at the end??
wasn't Mike - camera was on him
wasn't Heather - you can hear her in the distance screaming and crying.....

Josh maybe?

In my opinion:
The film was shit!! - after putting up with all the anticipation and argueing throughout the film... the end left you feeling like "is that it?????"

what a load of overhyped crap!

I've seen it and I have one question
smile.gif

There they where running about with a camera, and in there other hand there was nothing.

Now if you thought someone was after you then would'nt you have a heavy branch in your free hand ready to smack someone with?

They ran about with no defence what so ever. Geezz if they played CTF they would get hammered. Ah they did in the film did'nt they at the end
