I found the most 'terrifying' thing about the film was that your anticipation increased as you were waiting for 'something scary to happen'. Sadly, this didn't really happen for me and I left feeling quite disappointed. The four others I was with (including my wife) also felt the same. I had actually gone WANTING to be scared. But I wanted FEAR as opposed to SHOCK value. Sure you could have blood and guts or cat's jumping out of the cupboard, but Fear is more about the impending doom of characters that you actually FEEL something for!
(Spoilers getting a bit bigger here...)
I found that I couldn't feel anything for the characters in the time I was given. You therefore didn't give a monkey's about their impending doom.
So I ended up feeling 'God, this woman is SO annoying - I hope she gets it soon!', which is not really the point of the film I suppose.
Anyway, that's my thoughts. Give me Cape Fear or Silence of the Lambs or Psyco for REAL tension building.
And on next weeks show, I'll be talking to Pierce Brosnan about his new Bond movie.
Until then, Goodnight.
