Cameron will win and if he doesn't then the people of this country are more retarded than I first thought.

Its not quite that simple - Labour fixed a lot of the electoral boundaries so that its weighted to areas in which they do well.

He will have to do extremely well to win but I tend to think the expenses scandals have driven people away from voting altogether - we shall see.

Of course you are right but for the love of god, more Labour, for more years? Surely not?

I'm personally really torn. I don't like the current government. But I can't help but feel that the Tories would be even worse.

Then again, a Tory government is fairly likely to lead to Scottish independence. I can't see them coexisting very well with an SNP Scottish administration.

Not really, see Will's post above as a pure example of why the Tories are starting to loose ground in polls.

The tory's need to sort their shit out, I really couldn't stand 4 more years of Labour fucking the country up. At least the tories would fuck it up in different ways.

Can someone please explain to me how these opinion polls work. Neither me or anybody I know has ever been asked their opinion of anything and I doubt anyone here has either, so who exactly are these polls representing?

The worse ones are in re: to economics.

Because their survey of 0.1% of the population has one more unemployed person, they extrapolate that into '500 extra people have lost their jobs this month' when really - it could just be the fact that said person fucked the boss' wife and got fired.

So it was a sunday times poll conducted on sunday times readers. I was under the impression that newspapers pick a side and stick to it and do the readers of that paper often follow that opinion so an opinion poll would be a bit one sided. Which side are the sunday times on?

I don't particularly want the Conservatives to win. I'd rather see Labour deal with the problems for which they're responsible.

If the Conservatives got in, they'd have to take the unpopular decisions, and would be out after 4 years. If Labour get back in, they'll last 2 years and be gone for a long time.

I think we're already at the stage where a generation of people won't even consider voting labour got 10+ years.

The problem is we're in this cycle where we don't have any one term/minority governments which would be effective in getting shit done and instead we get these massive majorities that let one party do whatever the fuck they want no matter how retarded it is.

For that reason alone I'm tempted to vote Green or something.

I've never voted Labour and I never will.

ID cards.
Labour want them.
Conservative don't.
I don't want ID cards, therefore I'll be voting Conservative.

Stopping ID cards are my main, overriding priority. All other reasons are secondary.

You're sure as soon as the tories get in they won't just turn around and say "too far along the implementation path.... and it sounds like a good idea now!", were ID cards not first proposed here by conservatives last time they were in anyway?

Tactical voting for whoever came second to Labour in every constitency is the order of the day. That's conservative round my way so that's where my vote is gonna have to go. Getting Gordon out is my only desire.

Is there a list of all constituency votes in 2005 anywhere ?

Nah, its a manifesto promise, and one that's relatively easy to keep, and it'll save money. As Tom says, if the Tories do win, they're going to have to slash and burn public spending anyway, so getting rid of ID cards is a win-win for them.

Sorry but a manifesto promise just makes it less likely a party will break it but it is never a fact that a party won't.

I know that, but like I said, its win-win becuase they'll have to make huge cuts in public spending anyway.

I've no doubt they would since they seem to be promising a lot while planning to reduce debt, I'm also sure they've not got a genie lamp hidden some where either.

I'm with Wij, my priority is to get winky out, Cameron is the lesser of two evils tbh.

lol maybe that should be the party slogan "The conservative party, the lesser of two evils"

I wonder if the Conservatives will waste time un-banning hunting?

They are getting some support from that section though I tend to see it as a vote loser rather than a vote winner and doesnt do anything for their image re: elitism.

I'm a bit wary of conservative's policies.

If they get in power in june and go tax-cut crazy, I just can't see it being anything but painful.

'Bad' debts increased 09 over 08 - especially private debts. Throwing council officials etc. out of jobs instantly ( I think that was a tory suggestion? ) to bring down the debt just seems to be taking the burden from one place and passing it to another.

The question is whether its cheaper to maintain them on the dole or by paying them wages and a very expensive pension - plus some of them will get re-employed in the private sector generating taxes rather than spending them.
