Poor Mr Hartley (well the bloke who played him) died a few years back, shame as he was a nice old fella. great advert as well that is very fondly remember by the majority of the population.

Aye. Harks back to a more gentler age. I believe the old boy who played JR Hartley was a renowned opera singer. I think he died at the age of 95. There's a Wikipedia entry for it.
