Who invented pop-ups

Does anyone actually know who invented them? sure the ones in windows are annoying but the flash ones that take up tha page and make you watch the animation take the piss ad ones where you have to look at the site for a timed peroid are even worse before they close, just a thought:

I'll join tr0g on that, although with my catlike reflexes I have no problem alt-F4ing popups as they occur

Alt+f4 is your friend.
As is a desktop shell with a scripted "close last active instance of iexplore.exe" shortcut :X

besides, it's pop-unders that are the real pain in the arse

especially the ones that open new popups every 30 seconds or so.
