Which sword to use?

I've got a slash minstrel at lvl 24 and would like some advice on which weapon to use in the bgs.

At lvl 24 I believe my dmg cap to be 8.4dps.

Choices for swords are: -
Fine Alloy Longsword - 8.3dps (i think)
Fine Alloy Bastard Sword 8.7dps (presumably orange con as it's above my dmg cap)
A quest sword from camp forest. Cons red at 24 and does 8.4 dps due to 100% quality.

Assuming I can get 99% quality crafted items, I think I'll be doing approx 8.2dps with the longsword and 8.3 with the bastard sword.

So, speed preference and degradation aside, which is the best sword for me? I've heard some talk that you miss more with red con weapons (and I suppose it's that fact/fiction that I need clarification on).

Best sword for lvl24 (in my opinion) is a crafted fine alloy sabre. Orange cons, but goes yellow at 25, so its only just orange :)

Not noticed increased misses with red swords tbh, I think that's fiction.

Most minstrels like to frontload their damage so a slow sword would be best I guess.

Bastard sword hits a lot harder than a sabre for the speed of it and sabre is best when rr5 if you had an arcanium one.

Well, from the experience of my lvl 24 Inf, I would say that unless the crafted sword is 100% quality, it will be .1dps off your cap unless its a very high level weapon, then the quality doesnt matter so much. I've now started using similar weapons to the Lion Fang, the thrust version you get from a quest, Lions Tooth i think they are called, they con red, and so far I don't think I've missed with them. Do bare in mind though, that although your cap is 8.4, your won't actually be hitting for that amount, if I recall correctly, damage isn't just worked out from the dps, but also factors in the speed of the weapon, so a faster weapon will hit for less, but faster, whereas a slower sword will hit for more, but less times. Since the Lion Fang is spd 2.5, you'll hit very fast and over a long fight possibly do more damage than a slower weapon, I personally prefer fast weps, mainly cos you can get reaction styles in alot easier than with a slow weapon. So my advice would be, stick with the Lion fang at lvl24, but when you hit 50, seek out one of the 1000+ weaponcrafters and get them to make you an arcanium sword.
One other factor is bonus, yes you can enchant crafted weapons so you get an extra bonus to hit, but at that level, its only 10% I think, whereas your Lion fang is 15%, so with that you have 5% extra bonus to hit.

quality ALWAYS matter.

if you use a red con weapon with qual 89% for example, the quality will factor AFTER the DPS has been scaled to your cap.
