Which server to choose....?

I'm torn between a few servers, partly due to the conflicting reports on the EU ones.

For starters, I've got friends on Chilastra (sp), one of the US ones, who've offered to help me out with money, items, housing, distilleries etc.etc. But, on the other hand, perhaps it'd be more fun to work towards them myself.

Regarding the EU servers, I've been told by some players that it's full of l33t d00ds and powergamers and they're staying on Eclipse. Other players swear by the EU servers and say how friendly and welcoming they are.

Any suggestions? Game arrives tomorrow

hmm hmm hmmm dont know about the content of each server.. but on each server you will have:
leet people, powergamers, morons, friendly people, twats..

Ill play on gorath myself. several leet people, several powergamers, several morons.. and so on are on that server. Overall its a really nice server with happens to host the best enterainer guild around ( no im not part of that guild, only work as freelancer for them)

There are many europeans playing on that server ( especially germans). But about the european servers I cant say much. only got a starting wookie pikeman character tehre which I seldom play.

Playing with friends is always much easier and nicer then playing without.. just my opinion.

happy to say I'll be duoing with my gf probably with me as brawler/scout (going for teras kasi) and her as medic/marksman (going for combat medic).

I've been on Eclipse server for 2 or 3 months now and I haven't come across any l33t players or powergamers yet, in fact everyone has been very nice and friendly.

I started on Chimera (one of the 2 EU servers) when it went live and It has been full of powergamers (sort of) in terms of people who have been playing on the US servers who want to play on the EU servers but have done all the leveling before and know how to do it efficiently now (i'm one of these people i think). I think calling them/us powergamers is a bit extreme but to people new to the game we may appear to be less than enthusiastic about "exploring". Either way I have again found the server to be full of friendly sensible people, i was expecting l33t nob heads and kiddies and I was wrong to think that as i have been proved wrong thank god

Its the same with every Euro release.
At the beginning the servers are mostly populated by people who know what they are doing and only want to get to the point they were on their old servers.
It gets better by the time when the New players start to pour in.

as was stated in another post, Chimera seems to be populated by UK/French and Farstar by UK/German if this influences ya decision at all...

personally im on chimera and everyone ive met so far is friendly and helpful - no complaints.

I'm completely new to the game and have found everyone to be easy going on Chimera.

Chimera has been really good and the peeps who I have seen power levelling have been very nice and helpful.

Chimera is the unofficial Scandinavian server. You will find most dutch, scandos and some lost americans on that server.. and of course a small group of frenchmen.

Chimera is a good server to start with if you live in Europe. It is a lot more grown up feeling on SWG servers that on Daoc. Plus, the ping is lower than on the us server *phew* (still laggy though -aaah)

chimera is located in Amsterdam, so if i will start playing i will play there a friend of mine had 30ms ping wich is real nice for a mmorpg
