been thinking about getting a console again

thing is i dont know which one, basically i want a chipped console coz then i can do extra stuff.

was thining x-box as PS2 is cainer old now

any suggestions?

If you're going to chip it and use it for media etc then xbox is the obvious choice, it may also be worth waiting to see what the PSTwo will look like which is rumoured to be released before xmas and announced officially next week. A dinky console with PS2 games sounds good to me.

Yeah PStwo is just a shrunk ps2, same as the did with the PSone, a pre-chipped xbox is probably best bought on ebay.

You've not used a soldering iron like EVER? Because if you have, you can easily do it yourself - chipping xbox's tends to be very very simple - I've done about 3 myself*.



*Ok, my dad did them, but he's no soldering iron master.

Some of the chips you dont actually even need to solder...or so I have heard I personally just would mess it up somehow anyway!

Stay away from solderless chips, they're not gut.

Also, bare in mind that you don't need to chip xboxes anymore - you can just flash the xbox bios with a modified one. Don't forget that chipped xboxes can't get on live - if you have a modchip, you can affix a switch that disables it but you need to remember to turn it off if you plan to go on Live.

i was basically gonna buy an xbox with a modchip in it.

not overly worried about the live part of it. just want a console to play fifa on or something when i get bored.

I have a no solder in one of my xboxen and it's been fine since i did it Was a pain in the arse to get lined up but it works nonetheless

You should probably base your console purchase on the catalogue of games available.
Both machines are dirt cheap now so maybe get both?

Xbox is easier to chip yourself if the mood takes you.
